Severance Agreement Dispute

I am looking for an attorney familiar with employment law in regards to severance for an individual who has a dispute with their former employer about whether certain items are company property or were bought for the employee as a signing bonus. Former employer is pushing hard for either return of the items or they will pay the severance minus the cost of the items.
