Hi

We’re performing an upgrade from version 11.4.2 to 14 and have followed the instructions in this previous question/answer: https://groups.google.com/g/vocbench-user/c/XRGNglFUO6k

Everything seems to be working apart from the fact that we can’t see any of the users allocated to a project (in the old system) in the Project-Users management section. The only users appearing for each project are the Admin users. If I add a user on this screen then they appear fine.

We copied across the SemanticTurkeyData folder from the old system and under pu_bindings, for each project, the relevant folders for each user seem to be there. Is there something else we need to do?

Many thanks

Dear Martin,

that’s the first time we hear of such event so, at I’m afraid I can only have guesses and questions.

As you mentioned “copying across”, my main question now is: didn’t you simply keep all the SemanticTurkeyData? This is important as, while you might have copied all the necessary info (so that, in general, a partial migration of the data directory would work) when this is crossed with an update procedure being run on the data directory (actually several ones, given the jump from 11.4.2. to 14) the absence of some data structures might have affected the automatic update.

So, if you copied only part of it, I would suggest to try keeping the whole SemanticTurkeyData an do the migration.

If, instead, you already had the whole directory and still had this issue, depending on how much this is worth with respect to the number of projects and involved users, you might try this procedure: take back (I suppose you did a backup before updating) the original SemanticTurkeyData for 11.4.2 and try smaller updates, by downloading VocBench 12 instead of directly going to 14. Then you can update later with 13 and 14. You can even skip some steps, e.g. 11.4.2 à 13.0 as a first attempt and see whether you replicate the issue or everything goes smoothly.

Last thing: java version: pls be sure that you are using the right java version for each version, since from version 12.0 we moved ahead from java 8 and use now java 17+

Cheers,

Armando

I think I saw this yesterday, I was migrating from VB 5 to VB 14. At first there were no users assigned to any project and it was also not possible to assign them manually. After refresh the assignments were gone. I restarted VB and now everything is ok, all the old assignments are there.
