Upgrade from VB 11.4.2. to VB 13

HI, we're running v11.4.2 with GraphDB 9.8.1 as a back-end. and looking to upgrade to VB 13.  However, we can't see any documentation or an advisory on what steps to take, or which versions of GraphDB are supported?  Any pointers to documentation gratefully received.

The basic operation for all updates is:

• Turn everything off
• Replace semantic turkey with the new one, by keeping the same SemanticTurkeyData (make a backup of it first!)
• In case of a connected GDB, if GDB needs being updated (see below), then replace it by copying the “data” directory from the previous one to the new one (pls make a backup first!) and proceed with any further operation for installing GDB for VB
• Turn everything on

 

The news (besides usual operations, such as updating the sails in GDB), as you can see there, is the necessity to install the lucene-fts (now not distributed anymore with GDB).

We liaised with Ontotext to be sure that the migration from 9.x to 10.x (indeed featuring several major changes) was properly addressed by the automatic migration routines of GDB even for tools, such as VB, using most of the RDF4J compliancy layer in the sail management.

Needless to say, VB does the same as usual in automatically updating any necessary change in the data withing the SemanticTurkeyData directory.

Still, better to backup all data (both GDB and STData) and test extensively everything after migration, before moving to production, especially considering that you are moving across two majors versions, from 11.x to 13.x.
