Turkish Airlines Date Change Policy: Rules and Fees| +61 1800 407 707

Turkish Airlines allows passengers to make a one-time free date change on international bookings (excluding domestic Turkey flights), provided the same origin and destination routes are maintained. Any fare differences between the original date and the new date must be paid by the passenger.

A USD 100 per ticket fee is charged by Turkish Airlines for second or subsequent date changes if needed. As with initial changes, passengers must cover any differences in airfare between flights.

Applicable Ticket Classes

For both free and paid date changes, only certain full-fare ticket classes qualify under Turkish Airlines policy guidelines. Discounted economy promotional fares are non-changeable without forfeiture or involuntary conversion to future travel credit only.

The permitted booking classes include Business Flex, Comfort Flex, Economy Flex, and Extra fares. As these tickets often cost significantly more than promotional economy pricing, the ability to change dates helps provide added value to justify premium costs.

Restrictions on Changes

Customers should note that while one free date modification is allowed on international routes, several restrictions apply:

1) Changes must occur more than 72 hours before the original scheduled departure.

2) No more than two total changes (one free and one paid) are permitted before a ticket is restricted.

3) Refunds and cancellations always incur fees or penalties; changes result in future travel vouchers only.

4) Date changes do not apply to domestic Turkey or award booking tickets.

These limitations incentivize passengers to finalize travel plans further in advance rather than make multiple last-minute changes.

Extenuating Circumstances Policies

While Turkish Airlines enforces structured policies for routine date changes on international flights, customer welfare is still prioritized in cases of emergencies.

For documented medical or family emergencies, deaths of close relatives, natural disasters, political instability, or other extenuating events, penalties and charges may be waived at Turkish Airlines' discretion to facilitate urgent travel.

This compassionate, customer-focused consideration reflects Turkish Airlines' values despite the need for policies that protect revenue and inventory controls. The carrier ultimately aims for fairness and flexibility where truly warranted based on circumstances.

In summary, the Turkish Airlines date change allowance gives customers options to alter plans while restricting excessive modifications that could undermine revenue generation and inventory models. The one-time free change and subsequent $100 fee aim for reasonable flexibility.
