Turkish Name Change/Correction Policy and Fee
Turkish Airlines permits name changes on bookings in certain circumstances for a standard fee, provided that specific restrictions and deadlines are met. This policy aims to balance customer flexibility with the protection of Turkish Airlines revenue stream and their ability to fill every seat.
Turkish Airlines: Name Changes
Turkish Airlines allows name changes up to 24 hours before the scheduled flight departure, for a fee of $100 per ticket. Name corrections that properly reflect the passenger's legal name are also processed, but they also incur this $100 fee if they occur less than 72 hours before departure.
Any name change requests within 24 hours of departure are not processed under Turkish Airlines policy guidelines. Last-minute requests are only considered on an exception basis for family emergencies or bereavement.
Applicable Ticket fares
Name changes and corrections are only processed for tickets booked under specific full-fare classes; Turkish Airlines' discounted, promotional economy tickets do not qualify. This includes Extra, Flex, Comfort Flex, and Business Flex fare types booked for both international and domestic routes.
By only permitting changes on premium tickets, Turkish Airlines incentivizes these purchases for flexibility while restricting changes on cheaper fares to maximize revenue.
Name Matching for Reservations and Travel
Any name change or correction made on the booking must precisely match the passenger's ID that will be used for airport check-in and security purposes. If names do not match at the time of travel, Turkish Airlines may deny boarding for the passenger. This reduces instances of unauthorized ticket changes or fraudulent use.
No reselling or sharing is permitted.
Turkish Airlines prohibits reselling name-changed tickets or sharing tickets between multiple travelers. As part of the name change process, passengers must commit to being the sole travelers for all flight segments associated with the amended booking. Attempting ticket resale or sharing names can result in the cancellation of all onward travel without refund or credit.
This restriction protects Turkish Airlines yield management models and inventory controls. Failing to prohibit transferability would enable abuses, where passengers could book flights in their own name, change it last-minute, and then sell flights to relatives, friends, or complete strangers at discounted fares.
