how to change the default video extension from js to html5 ?
By mistake, I check the 'use app' instead of 'open as html5 in browser'.
Now, I do not see a way to change the download file.html5

This does not sound like a question that deals with Video Download Helper. Perhaps some
screenshots of what you are talking about would help.

On first time download video, downloadhelper asks whether I want to download the file "for open with app" or "open in web browser" (this is not the exact wording) .  I mistakenly select "for open with app".  And the video was downloaded as  'namefile.js'  - I don't have any app that will open the file. And when I picked to open it with 'chrome' browser.  It shows java text.
So the question is how to change the default downloaded file extension.  I do not see that screen where I can select  the 'download format' .

That may be progress.  Still, pictures would have been better.  You do know how to post screenshots, I hope.

I think we need a proper problem report here.  Click this:

https://groups.google.com/g/video-downloadhelper-q-and-a/c/BzPLK2YyL-s

Look for the words "problem report" on that page.  Use the browser find text function.  That will reposition the page to 2 references with links to how to make a proper problem report.  Click those links & read what you find.  Then follow those instructions to post a proper problem report.

Meanwhile, you might find that thread worth reading, if not in one sitting, at least eventually over time.

Once we have a proper problem report here, we might be able to make some progress.

When you talk about "for open in app" or "open in web browser," are you talking about this?

I strongly recommend you select "Companion Application" for that setting.  It gives you the most flexibility, plus it is required for many types of download.

Also, before you post again, please read this & follow the advice given there:
