I know many of you are sometime fish eaters so I thought I would pass
along this very well written and researched exposé that our magazine
just published call "The new school of fish."
http://www.sanfranmag.com/story/the-new-school-of-fish Be sure to look
at the sidebar examining a few restaurants' menus too.
http://www.sanfranmag.com/story/scoring-the-top-menus

It tells the story about Kenny Belov, the owner of the Sausalito
restaurant, Fish, and his obsessive quest to serve only truly
sustainable fish. The sidebars have a lot of helpful info about how to
choose the right fish at the right time of the year.

A bit of info interesting info that I hadn't heard was that the
famously exotic fish obsessed sushi-ya, Sebo in Hayes Valley, has
decided to stop serving bluefin tuna and monkfish.

Thanks for the link Monica! After reading maybe the 1st third of
Bottomfeeder on your recommendation (I had to stop because it was
making me too depressed), I got a lot more careful about the fish I
eat. Nowadays I avoid most everything except the small, plentiful
plankton feeders like anchovies and sardines, unless I have specific
information that the provider or purveyor is trustworthy. Which means
I don't eat fish very much anymore, but with the piles of veggies I
get in my farm box, I rarely miss it.
