How bad can it be? I don't have much Oakland-fu so I don't know if this is half mile through the worst part of Oakland's most violent crime-ridden ghetto or something, it does go under a freeway which isn't always pleasant.

could meet at the ferry, and as John suggested, take BART back. I love
the idea of a ferry ride followed by a long pleasant walk to
Encuentro.

celebration indeed! It's a Friday, so there shouldn't be strange Ferry

We are officially set for 7pm, Wednesday June 9th to celebrate Rob's
birthday at Encuentro. I made the reservation for 8 people to include
the following who told me they were interested:

Plus, I included an extra seat for Phillip, should he decide to come.
If anyone else wants to come, let me know as soon as possible, the
reservation can be changed up until the 8th.
Sharma has offered to drive 2 people with her across the bridge that
evening. I think the rest of us can either BART it or take the ferry.
While I'd love to take the ferry, it seems I'll be working right near
Powell BART, so I'll probably take BART the entire way.

Happy Birthday to Rob! Reminder that Rob's birthday Encuentro dinner is tonight.
For those who are interested in scenic, nautical transportation to Oakland, Monica and I plan to take the 5:45 ferry to Oakland. We will meet at 5:30 to buy tickets and make sure we don't miss the ferry (the next one is 40 minutes later). Tickets are $6.25 and can be bought on board the ferry. (We plan to just take BART back afterwards, as the ferry stops running at 9pm.)
The Ferry will arrive at 6:20 which will give us plenty of time to stroll the half mile or so to Encuentro, as well as dally a bit in Jack London Square on the way.
