JMV,

Thanks for your input. I like the idea of having it soonish, to carry
on from the momentum of the Google Transit announcement, and am
definitely good for doing this before Christmas.

2 votes for Saturday + 2 off-list votes for Saturday from Richard and
Roland...I've checked Upcoming.org and there aren't any tech events on
that day. Let's go with the 8th then.

As for drumming up interest in a month... I think we have some allies
in our corner - and I honestly believe we know enough people between
the bunch of us and our friends to get an excellent turnout. Myself
personally, I've been in touch with Amy from Momentum Magazine, which
is online and print for cyclists (although we probably won't make it
into any print version they put out). I might be able to ask Bonnie
Fenton with the VACC (Vancouver Area Cycling Coaltion) to pass it on.
Paul, you were mentioning someone you knew that was interested also?

I think I'm going to try and cook up a TransitCamp logo/visual
identifier next... (font geekery ahead) there are two "routes" that
have been taken with these logos so far: Toronto riffed on the TTC
logo (it's not well-documented online though, probably b/c of the TTC
connection) and had their TTC Thinker image, while Bay Area's stuck
with the BarCamp look (Chris Messina's put it online at
http://www.flickr.com/photos/factoryjoe/1584623403/).

I personally like the old-style BC Transit intercaps in Serif Font
(it's on FareDealer signs, old SeaBus signs, etc). It precludes any
of that "swishing" stuff that's associated with TransLink more
currently, though.

I'm also setting up a Jaiku channel - stay tuned.

Karen
