Using MSP to Schedule EMHC's to Multiple Nursing Homes

Hello-

I was asked by our Nursing Home EMHC Coordinator to schedule the weekly (Wednesday and Sunday) visits by EMHC's from our parish to 11 different nursing homes in our area.  

Anyone have any experience doing this with MSP??

Hello,

We actually set that up when we set up the Sunday and weekday EMHC ministries. I have each nursing home and hospital set up as a subdivision under the EMHC ministry since they are coordinated by the same volunteer. Each subdivision is titled with the name of the nursing home or hospital, i.e. "Continuing Care - Birmingham Green" or "Hospital - PWH." I set the service time at midnight since there is no set time for the visit and the volunteers just know that they are scheduled for that date. They could also be set up as a separate ministry, which is what we did with the volunteers who visit the local jail since they have a different coordinator. Again, the service time would be set at midnight, at least in our case.

we also set up separate ministries as subdivisions of EMHC, however in our case, on Saturday Vigil and on Sunday's the EMHC bringing communion serves at Mass.  We dismiss these ministers before the final blessing.  It has been working fine.  This also makes it very easy to see which EMHCs are able and willing to visit the homebound, nursing homes and assisted living centers.

The hospitals in our area manage communion visits, so even though some of our EMHCs go, they are not scheduled by me.
