Everyone,

The Sebago Lake Triathlon is coming up fast!  To help us get ready for the race, TRIDEXX is organizing a group training event the weekend before on Sunday June 5th.  Join us for a practice run of the entire Sebago Lake sprint course, including a 1/3 mi lake swim, 13.8 mile bike ride, and 3.3 mile run!   Maps of the race courses are available here on the event website.

Anyone in the group is welcome to attend.  For those doing the race, this is a great opportunity to see the course and get to know all the features such as hills and landmarks so that they are familiar on race day.  It's also a great chance to meet and get to know your fellow TRIDEXXers!   Everyone is welcome to join, even if you are not participating in the race itself!

Tentative schedule:

Meet-up:  6:45 am.  Park and meet in the lot outside the resort to get dressed and ready for the ride.  Click here for a map of the meeting location.

Bike:  7:00 am.  We'll aim to push off for the bike course promptly at 7:00 am.  This will allow us to finish the ride while the roads have less traffic.  The ride will be "no drop" -- which means that the group will periodically wait for everyone to catch-up and regroup, typically at each major turn on the course.  If desired, stronger riders are welcome to double back sections of the course to get in some more distance or hill repeats.

Run:  ~8:30 am (TBD).  After the bike course we'll get permission to enter the resort after it opens and move to the beach parking lot by the race start.  The exact time for our run start will depend on the speed of the group on the bike course and relocating our cars to the beach lot.  Click here for a map of beach lot location.

Swim:  ~9:15 am (TBD).  Lastly, after the run we will finish the day with the swim course.  By this time hopefully the air will have warmed up a bit more to make the swim a little more comfortable.  We'll put wetsuits on in the parking lot by the beach and plan to enter the water together.  Swimmers will stay together as a group for support and for better visibility to other users of the water, including boaters coming in and out of nearby docks.

Transition practice (optional): ~10:00 am (TBD).  At the conclusion of the swim, if there is interest and time we can setup a mock transition area to practice our T1 and T2 transitions and share tips on how to setup.

Interested?   If you would like to participate please reply below to let us know.  Please also indicate if you are planning on swimming, biking, and/or running, or any combination of those, and if you would be interested in transition practice.

When we get closer to the event we will update this post to confirm the final schedule. We will also provide contact information for everyone who is attending in case there are last minute changes due to weather or other circumstances. If you are going to attend, please go-ahead and add your information to the TRIDEXX Contact Information spreadsheet.

Hope to see you there!

Brian

P.S. This event is part of the TRIDEXX Weekend Training Series. Watch that thread for information on other weekend training opportunities coming up on other future weekends.

Reminder -- our Sebago Triathlon preview is happening this weekend on Sunday at 7am!!

Please reply to this topic or send an email directly to me (Brian) to confirm if you will be attending.

Based on what I've heard back so far, it sounds like we will have 9-10 people, possibly more.

I've turned into a giant maybe. If the weather is sub par I will probably be sleeping :)

Hi everyone -- sounds like we'll have a great group!  Looking forward to it!

The final schedule will be as originally posted.

Event will be held rain or shine, and rain should not affect our schedule -- except maybe to slow us down a bit.  Fortunately, weather at this point looks like it will be OK with cool temps (58-65F) and hopefully the rain will hold off until later in the morning/afternoon.  This should work well for us to complete the bike leg while it's dry. Run will happen whether it's raining or not.  Swimming in the rain is fine and actually pretty nice -- the only concern is if there are storms, in which case we may have to skip it.

For the transition practice at the end, bring ALL of your transition area gear and we can each set-up to share what we each do.  We can also share some of the tips and feedback from the transition clinic earlier this week conducted by Kurt and Carrie from PBM Coaching.  If folks want I'll bring a stopwatch and we can time each other doing a practice run, or possibly do a full-speed transition starting from in the water.  We'll see how much time there is at the end and go from there!

Below is a list of who I have attending.  Everyone has indicated an interest in the bike, so we'll look for the whole group to arrive before pushing off at 7:00am.

Feel free to text me @ 443-207-1364 with any changes in plans so we know to wait for you (or not).  If you haven't already please consider adding your contact info to our list per the original post in case I need to reach you if there is a last minute change in plans.
