Hey folks! There's a hearing on Monday morning at ODOT's HQ about decongestion pricing, and we could really use some folks to show up and testify in support of decongestion pricing.
You can sit through the whole three hour meeting if you want, but we'd honestly only need you there from 9:00 through 10am (the agenda has public comment listed from 9:20 through 9:40, but you never know with this stuff)
The meeting's downtown at ODOT's HQ in Old Town/inner Northwest Portland. I'm going to be there presenting our No More Freeways PDX coalition letter. I'm happy to talk to you personally about talking points and tips for providing commentary; what we're ultimately trying to convey is:
- Decongestion pricing is great! it's literally the *only* policy that has reduced traffic congestion (unlike freeway expansion)
- it should be done equitably (low-income refund/rebate/exemption, mitigation funds, etc)
- revenue should be distributed to transit, not freeway expansion, to help move more people
Here's the full copy of our letter with the 225 comments in support.
