This link: http://code.google.com/p/tokboxapi/wiki/PHPTutorial doesn't
seem to have kept up with the latest PHP SDK for v1 that's a featured
download. I've looked through all its code and the function
"createGuest" cannot be found. I wanted to move to this SDK, we had
been using "TokBoxPHPSDK_11182009" for some time now and about 2 to 3
weeks ago got an error similar to Palak Bhalala at
http://groups.google.com/group/tokbox-developers/browse_thread/thread/2177718b85f2d6ca?pli=1.

However, we no longer have that problem when we're still using the old
SDK. We can connect just fine and we haven't changed any of the code
we were using. I'm discouraged from moving to the new SDK due to the
Wiki problem and the fact that the old one works just fine.

Please let us know what's planned for this because although we plan on
also integrating OpenTok we rely on this Video Call Widget for its
sharing features (Youtube, Flickr, etc.) that are pretty neat. Should
those same features eventually make their way into OpenTok you bet
we'll move to that platform.

P.J.

The new SDK has a text file attached to it which acts as the tutorial for it. I will put this tutorial up on the web right now on the wiki, and update the links to point
to the appropriate SDK.

The issue of the sandbox environment not resolving is fixed, and thanks to the community for alerting us to this factor.

Finally, we're open to any and all use cases for the OpenTok API, but if there are really great use cases for the Call Widget API as well, then please let us know
what they are.

Thanks.

Thanks for the prompt reply Melih. The text file does indeed look like
a good tutorial for setting up moderated sessions with registered
users. Can we still create guests? We've been using the Call Widget
like some others have done by creating new sessions every connection
and dropping them when we're done. Are we required to have a
persistent user list to use the newer SDK?

To answer your question, at the most basic level there is no need for a user. Because of that the simple call method no longer requires a user, only an API key/secret.

We did this in order to make creating a call simpler. Most partners were just doing createGuest, createCall and so we realized that it should be as easy as one call, and
we've made that change.

Hope that this helps.

That's absolutely wonderful. So no need to create a guest or user,
just create a call. Thank you!
