SB 883 and HB 1477 are still the Senate Criminal Justice Committee and
the House Corrections Committee, respectively. These two bills would
give credit for time served on parole if there is a technical
violation. Your family member may still be in prison but this can be
very important when they are paroled.
 
If this legislation were current law, my son would have been released
in 2009. Instead he got another setoff this month. He was a tax
paying citizen when revoked but received no credit for the street
time.
 
I encourage you to call or email the Senate Criminal Justice committee
members to vote yes for SB 883 to move it out of committee and the
House Corrections committee members to vote yes for HB 1477 to move it
out of committee. Then contact your Senator and Representative and
ask them to support the bills when they come to the floor for vote.
