Silva, I understand about Facebook and I agree with you. Just because you are overseas doe not mean that you should not join TIFA as there member benefits such as the "backoffice", multiple emails with information and the CONTACT (our newsletter). Recently my husband was released from Seg at one unit and shipped to another unit. He is eligible for parole as a Line 1, but he is being kept at the G-5 level by the warden even though Huntsville recommended 1. when he was released from the former unit he was recommended to be released into medium custody level and as a G-4. $100 medical fees imposed on inmates

Hi People, Is there anything we can do as a group to try and make changes on the new law, to at least reduce the $100 yearly Medical fees to be imposed in September 2011? This just puts more burden on the families out here. And the way I understand it, is that the $100 fee will cover for "1 year from the time of payment", and not TDCJ's physical year. So how are they going to keep up with each persons' payments/contributions, especially if it is done in increments of 50% of the inmates trust fund until the full $100 is obtained?? HHmmmmm... more »

Has anyone experienced this: My nephew's ID card was taken ONE MONTH AGO by a staff member (Vasquez) of Beto Unit. He was not told why it was taken on July 4, and his grievance was not returned yet, more than a month. I spoke with the warden 3 days after the card was taken, and was told that the staff can take a card if it needs to be replaced. My nephew's was new.... more »

Our "Basic Plus Membership" was renewed in May 2011 and we have
received a transmittal letter dated May 20, 2011 and our new cards
indicating a new expiration of May 23, 2012. However, we are still

In response to the 'nametag survey'--- At the Stevenson Unit, I noticed the guards at the Gate had nametags, but I did not see nametags on the officers in the visitation area. This was my observation during my first and only visit , to date, at this unit. Shella
