Greetings Hashers,
Have you ever wondered where some of the common phrases we use in hashing
came from? Such as "If you've half a mind to join the hash, that's all
you'll need" . . . for many years, this was attributed to Phil Kirkland of
the Hong Kong H3, back in 1977 or 78. While reviewing a stack of old hash
books, I found that very statement on page 2 of the Melbourne H3 100th Run
Magazine <
https://www.gotothehash.net/history/files/halfamind.pdf> . That
hash took place on 24 March 1974. There is no attribution, but is thrown out
as if it were a common statement of the day. Now, if it was Phil Kirkland
who was throwing that statement around in the early 1970s, it may have some
credence, but as of this moment, the phrase will remain unattributed.
Another one is . . . “A Drinking Club with a Running Problem” . . . which
probably was copied from motorcycle gangs of years ago, such as the
Boozefighters
<
https://www.diffordsguide.com/encyclopedia/1201/people/a-drinking-club-with
-a-motorcycle-problem> . I have never seen anyone claim to have adopted
this to hashing, but if anyone has additional information on either of these
two saying, please let me know.

HHH MUSEUM POLL February Update
Dear Hashers,
Following our message on 11 February we received a total of $125 through 3
donations. Looking at our previous mail, we might not have stressed enough
the current situation and deadline to the 500 poll respondents. At the
moment two hashers are sponsoring the monthly rent for another 3 months then
the HHH Museum will have to rely on donations solely, while searching for
new revenues. So if you are still willing and able to support this
initiative, we would appreciate if you could remit what you can afford
before the end of March. Feel free to organise a sponsoring event with your
local kennel to raise awareness and money.
Thanks in advance for keeping the HHH Museum project alive,
