Greetings Hashers,
It is great to see new hash clubs popping up around the world. Taiwan
appears to be the hot bed of new clubs with several popping up in recent
years . . . check them out at
https://www.taipeihash.com.tw/link.htm . . .
More recently, the Addis Sunday Hash House Harriers
<
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1048229493976987/> will set their 16th
hash trail this weekend in Ethiopia. BUT . . .
In case you missed it, there is a bit of "Hash Drama" taking place in Sierra
Leone. The Freetown H3 posted the attached letter about a new club forming
in their city, stating that any new hash club needed permission to get
started . . . and that my fellow hashers, as you all well know, is totally
false. A new hash club can start up at any time, in any place, and run
trails, no permission required whatsoever. I wish the new Sierra H4 glad
tidings on their continued search for shiggy trails and frothy cold brews to
follow.

While the above philosophy of hashing, that there are no requirements or
authority needed to hash is absolutely true . . . You may have heard about
various problems in recent years with the organization of large hash events
around the world (e.g. Pan Asia 2013, Interhash 2020/21/22, and InterAm
2021/22/23). Each major event is a separate entity, and loosely organized
by the region of the world they exist. As far is the biennial INTERHASH
that is organized for hashers worldwide, an advisory group was formed a few
years ago to assist. Here is a brief introduction . . .
Greetings from the INTERHASH COUNCIL . . . although the IC was established
many years ago, many hashers have not heard of this organization, and if
they have, only as a rumor. So by way of introduction, here is a brief
explanation of the purpose of the IC:
What Is the Interhash Council?
The Interhash Council's (IC) vision is to improve the quality, efficiency,
and success of Interhash for all participants. To achieve this, the IC
reviews and certifies Interhash bidder proposals and provides guidance to
the successful Interhash Committee on event planning and implementation.
The IC is purely an advisory body, takes no direct control of the event nor
has any direct responsibilities for it, nor do we receive any compensation
for our efforts. The Council is international in its membership and made up
of about 10 different nationalities. We conduct coordination meetings on a
quarterly basis, and meet up at many of the major international events. In
total, members of the Council have around 600 years of Hashing experience
and have led or participated in organizing many of the Interhashes, as well
as numerous other regional Hash events such as PAN ASIA, PAN AFRICA, and PAN
SOUTH AMERICA.
An introduction to the current council members, contact information, as well
as much more detail of our commitments to INTERHASH can be found on our
website at
https://interhash.com - and we encourage any country, city, or
individual hash club that is interested in hosting a future INTERHASH,
please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions. We are
currently in coordination with the IH Committee in Indonesia for 2026, and
assure you that they are a very capable and coordinated team. As it takes
much time and effort to host these large hash events, bids for IH 2028 and
beyond are encouraged NOW from around the world.

Convoy Canberra to Fremantle - 7-28 March 2025
Hashers in Australia invite you to join an epic trek across Australia to
Fremantle for Nash Hash 2025
* Departing Canberra, however if you live elsewhere, we can pick you up on
trail! When we publish which route we are taking you can sort yourself to be
at one of the towns and we'll meet you there. Punters are welcome to join in
at any time - so we can collect campers as we travel west.
* The trip will not be a whirlwind rush of big driving days one after the
other, but a tour stopping to enjoy the scenery and paying the Nullabour
Links for a laugh.
* The journey is part of the holiday and would be expected to last about 2
to 3 weeks. You can start with us or catch us up along the way.
* You can jump on and jump off if you want to go see/visit different stuff
along the way that isn't on our rough itinerary and rejoin at your leisure.
Or suggest some really awesome place and we can include it.
* Hope to spend a few days at the wineries in SA. We anticipate to spend a
few days at Streaky Bay SA or somewhere to break the driving up and have a
few days rest. Refill water tanks, do washing and shopping etc.
* Cater for yourself.
* There may be some pub stays and occasional free camps overnight.
* Start dates will depend on when Nash Hash is!
* Pending numbers, a group booking at a caravan park at intervals can be
organised.
* Other hash caravanning groups are welcome to merge with us into one big
travelling party prelube!
There is no cost outside of camping fees, pay for yourself where applicable.
A T-shirt is likely to be created and that would be your choice to purchase!

Thought for the day . . . When someone asks what I did over the weekend, I
squint and ask, "Why, what did you hear?"

HASH HISTORY: In case you missed them, here are the latest releases . . .

In the Spotlight - Germany -
https://www.gotothehash.net/history/ItS-Germany.pdf If you have already
read this one, you may want to check it out again. I have made several
updates regarding the founding details for the Berlin H3.
Update on my book: I had hoped to have it done by the first weekend in
October to coincide with my 40th year anniversary of hashing . . . but if
you can believe it, I have been so busy hashing (I have run 125 hash trails
in 2024 already, and 21 this month alone) that some important passages have
yet to be finalized. I am working on it (as you can see from the recent
articles above) between washing my hash kit from shiggy trails, drinking
beer, and catching an occasion nap. New target date is the end of this
year.
