Hope you all had a wonderful weekend celebrating our Independence Day.

Anyone else interested in organizing a protest ride for better biking facilities in Lansing not to mention around the State? For much of the past decade we’ve been losing out to the businesses & city/ county officials who seem to believe that bicyclists don’t spend money in Greater Lansing, that only motor vehicle drivers go shopping or visit restaurants, breweries etc.

We've worked for nearly 20 years attending the community meetings, writing letters, gently asking for consideration with every project we learn about or have been asked for feedback for in some cases only to be completely stymied, seemingly ignored. It would appear that some believe that we don’t need safe or clean, pothole-free places to ride on or near the roadway, but can just “ride on the sidewalk where bikes belong”. Or maybe they believe we just ride for health and recreation and not for transportation, so the primary focus and $$ is on off-road pathways (Lansing River Trail and the connected network)

We could borrow some strategies from the Toronto biking community who are facing removal of some of their awesome biking infrastructure:

Anyone in the group interested please email me offline.

Have a good week and stay upright.
