Hello all,
I’m guessing at least a few of you are Z80 fans. At my workplace (hint: it’s got big white sails but it ain’t a boat), we have a custom signage system from a long-dissolved company, that I’m working on keeping chugging along. Why change what ain’t broken?
The signs are a red dot matrix LED panel with a whole bunch of latching shift registers, controlled by a board with a Z180 processor (I *think* it’s a drop in replacement for Z80 in this application but I might be wrong). There’s a lithium-battery-containing ‘ZeroPowerRAM’ RAM chip, and a ROM chip as visible in the below photo.
Does anyone recognise this particular ROM and/or have equipment to dump it? I can also peel off the sticker and get a better photo.
I’m working on a module to convert them to PoE and TCP socket control, and while I can sniff the protocol, having a full dump to possibly emulate would be great!
