I have Cressi Leonardo, and want to start uploading dive info to laptop app. I've looked at Divemate but the app seems to be only phone based. I like the look of Subsurface, but what do I need to upload my dives from the Leonardo? Will the FusionIR work? I don't have the Cressi interface, and I don't really want to get it as I'm likely to change computers in the future. I'm using Windows 10 on PC.
Thanks!

Unfortunately you need infrared-based hardware to unload dives from the
Leonardo. Subsurface does not provide any hardware. You will notice that
the Cressi software also does not work without the infrared hardware
interface. Tough choice when buying a new dive computer because the
upload hardware is usually extortionately expensive. Newer dive
computers have built-in bluetooth but even then (e.g. Shearwater) you
may need a special bluetooth dongle.

Kind regards,

willem

I did find an inexpensive IR adapter that worked for me with a Galileo Sol running on Linux. The same adapter worked with Windows 7 as well. Here are the details:

Recall it being around $30, if you're up for the experiment. IR support is getting more and more flakey these days. ;-)

Good luck!    Darrell ...

The Cressi interface has a standard usb-serial connection. It does use
infrared light for the communication with the dive computer, but that
doesn't make it an IrDA device. So a generic IrDA interface will not
work! You need the Cressi interface.

Thanks Darrell and Jef for your input. DiveMate have assured me that their FusionIR will work with Cressi Leonardo, and if it doesn't I can return for a full refund. So I'm going to try it.
Wish me luck!
