Sure, this should be pretty straightfoward. Please send a link to your
repo once you start.

The PG transcription is wanting. I've already found two pages they missed in chapter 1, via lint. I think I'll be able to handle it for the SE book, but should we let them know somehow?

Sure, you can contact PG to let them know.

Bah, it's not them, it's me. My regex to delete their page number anchors was greedy.

When lint finds a missing comma at the end of a phrase of dialog, is adding it an editorial change?

There are a _lot_ of these. I think [Editorial] will be warranted, I suspect this is Richardson being consciously experimental. There is surviving correspondence from her to her publisher urging them to honor every missing comma for one of her books, for example.

It’s changing text, so yes, editorial.

The book did not italicize other languages, and I have a French passage were the first word was italicized already:

> <i xml:lang="fr"><em>Parfaitement</em>; j’ai toujours été fort intéressé dans la philosophie</i>.

Should I use <b> instead of <em>?

No, core already handles emphasis inside italics.

Back to the question of lint calling out dialog snippets that do not end in commas: what exactly is the rule here? I'm finding a lot of things that it missed. E.g.

> “M’m” said Miriam
> “M’m” Miriam murmured
> “Whatever you think my dear; good of you” murmured Mrs. Bailey feebly. “Not a bit” said Miriam
> “I think you know” whispered Mr. Gunner, “what we are to each other.”

I'm finding these with a simple search for `[a-z]” `, and skipping things that are obviously not dialog (most hits are). Should I go ahead and add commas to all of these?

Yes. Lint takes a best guess, but it can’t catch everything via regex, simply too many possibilities and it tends to err on the side of avoiding (too many) false positives.

Proofreading is done and pushed. Thinking of this for the cover image, although it's a few decades too early (1855, should be ~1899). CC0 per The Art Institute of Chicago

I would much rather have used this picture for the cover, but as usual for something in private hands I just can't find satisfactory proof that it's PD.

Wikipedia says this about the preferred image…

> This work is in the public domain in the United States because it was published (or registered with the U.S. Copyright Office) before January 1, 1931.

…but I don't see any links to support that claim. Am I missing something? Maybe it could be used after all?
