INNOCENT STUDENT SHOT AT LIMKOKWING
A 23 year old Graphics Design student at Limkokwing University was shot in the leg by police yesterday afternoon at the university's campus in Mbabane. The student was on his way to his dormitory when he was struck by the live bullet in his leg.
The shocking incident happened at about three o'clock in the afternoon when all protests were expected to be over. According to witnesses, one policeman claimed to have been hit by a stone. In retaliation, one of his colleagues let out a shot in the direction of the student who was walking past the police contingent.
Bleeding heavily, the student was rushed to hospital where he was treated and later discharged. No other incidents of violence were reported from the troubled university last night. The campus has been under heavy police presence since last week following an ongoing students' strike.
Students resolved to stop attending classes after government failed to release their allowances and to buy learning equipment for students. They are also demanding the immediate resignation of the university manager, whom they accuse of corruption.
