Dear Salwanians

Ashish deserves a special salute for his accomplishments and achievements.He fulfilled several of my unfulfilled dreams.
I joined SPS in KG I (1961) and was from 1974 batch (Engineering).From early stage I was inclined towards academics and was specially interested in mathematics and later Physics.I too was also 1st ranker throughout from 6th Standard.We were the first batch to take All India Hr. Secondary Board instead of previous Delhi Board where our SPS had produced regular merit holders.The course and competition was tough but some how the expectation was that I would top the examination.

A pressure had been built up from November 1973 onwards. Sometimes such a pressure interfere with your performance.I took the test with patience in most of the subjects but my nerves gave up under afternoon heat and body temperature in Geometrical Drawing Paper which had been my favorite and scoring subject.My dream to be among topper was shattered although my average of 4 subjects was more than the 2nd ranker.I was glad that after 2 years Ashish accomplished that dream for SPS. My only consolation was that I had all India JEE rank of 23 and could get any engineering in any IIT. There once again we were the first batch for relative grading and in Electrical we had all the top ranker from all India Hr. Secondary,Harayana ,Punjab,National Science talent.I must say that the teachers from SPS had imparted good fundamental knowledge and I could top in Power systems and Industrial drives with a 9.5 CGPA. In our batch no one achieved a CGPA of 10.00
Ashish joined IIT in the same Electrical Engineering and achieved 10.00 points and 1st rank two years later.I salute him for this achievement.

I am not aware of his later accomplishments but I feel on behalf of alumini and SPS he deserves to be felicitated.This would inspire the current students to excel in academics.
