Another fact - Ashish (Engineering) was also the All India High School topper from Salwan, along with Neeraj Bhatia & Kalyan Bhandari both in Commerce in 1976. Our batch broke all records and still no high school in India could match that distinction.

Dear Ashish,
Heartfelt congratulations for this important assignment in India's most prestigious institution. I have had the pleasure of working with many of my civil service colleagues who were alumni from this prestigious institution and they really stand out from the rest of our cadre.
I still remember the first day you joined the school in our class in 1969 ( hope my memory serves me right) in Class IV and since then took away my monopoly of standing first in class since 1964 when I joined SPS in KG!!! What I also remember very vividly is Mam taking our first English class that year and we were all mesmerised by this angel looking teacher. I did meet her much later in 1990s in Lucknow. I do understand the sense of loss you must be feeling having lost my mom last year in Bangkok. I still have not got over it completely ( noone can ever) and the following poem that a friend sent when I lost my mom, gives me a lot of solace. I will share this with you for your comfort:
Do not stand at my grave and weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
