Dear Toastmasters,

The upcoming meeting is the last meeting we have to fit in the contests for this time of the year. The categories are Humorous Speech and Evaluation Speech.  Please let me know if any of you are interested in competing in either of these categories (more information below). If so, we will make room in the agenda for it. Please let me know your preferences by next Wednesday.

Many thanks!

Nancy - VP of E

July 1 – August 31st is Humorous and Evaluation Speech contest time!!

Fellow Club Officers,

For these two contests there are no pre-requisites. Any member can compete “and win!”

The winners from the club will go on to participate in the Area contest. The Area contests begin September 1 – September 20 therefore, it is important to
conclude your club contests by August 31st. What’s in it for the contestants?

*     Credit in the CC manual for the humorous speech given (have a Toastmaster evaluate the speech) -helps toward the DCP goals
*     Evaluators can receive credit in their CL manuals (have a Toastmaster evaluate their evaluation) – helps toward the DCP goals
*     Target Speaker (evaluators need someone to evaluate) can also receive credit in his/her CC manual for giving the target speech. Member should not have given
              more than 5 or 6 speeches in the CC manual (helps toward club goals) Target speaker can be from another club
*     Higher self-esteem and self-confidence
*     F-U-N!

What’s in it for the contest organizers?

Credit in the CL manual J (helps toward DCP)
Leadership enhancement
Team Building experience

What’s in it for everyone else?

The opportunity to watch and listen as speakers and evaluators step outside their comfort zone to become more proficient, effective and skillful.

Involve your Area Governor as they are happy to assist and they are great resources of information.

I hope you have a great contest!
If you are unable to conduct a club contest for whatever reason, speak with your Area Governor and club members because, you can send a representative for each contest to the Area, to represent your club!
