時候，外界對於「小姚明」的身高就有許多預測。當時有人套用了一位歐洲科學家所歸納出的一套預測子女身高的公式，結果顯示，姚明的兒子的身高應該在
225公分左右，而女兒應該也有199公分。
這位科學家的公式為：
兒子成年身高(cm)＝(父親身高＋母親身高)×1.08÷2
女兒成年身高(cm)＝(父親身高×0.923＋母親身高)÷2
然而從姚明自己的例子來看，小姚明的身高可能會更高，因為姚明的父親208公分，母親是188公分，根據這個公式，姚明的身高應該是213公分，但他的
身高比這個數字高出13公分。
