So. An email apparently does exist that was sent to a dead email
address. This email contained a great deal of information about Ben
Cramer, all of which or none of which may be true. I don't know, and as
I said, I have deleted the email. I did forward it to my husband to do
some checking, which he did. He has deleted the email as well. Neither
of us have it anymore, nor have we divulged its contents to anyone else.
The email did not contain full headers, so further investigating isn't
possible. I assume that the security people who notified Mr. Cramer
about it have the full headers, and that they discovered all the same
things my husband did.
What the security people did NOT do, what Cramer did NOT do, was bother
to try and contact ME at the time. Had they done so, their attempts
would have failed, and they would have instantly realized that the email
never reached me. Instead, Mr. Cramer assumed that I had received it,
assumed that I contacted others and shared this information, and
escalated his already unwarranted and uncalled-for verbal attacks
against me. This is called "guilty until proven innocent."
As I have stated, I completely repudiate the filth who tried to send
this information to me. I completely repudiate ANYONE who spreads
personal information. And I apologize to Mr. Cramer for doubting that
his email existed.
However, I also find Mr. Cramer's eagerness and willingness to believe
that someone who has ALWAYS condemned this kind of behavior (me) and who
has been subjected to EXACTLY the same kind of attempted harassment
would do the same to him a bit odd. I find it a bit odd that Mr. Cramer,
who claims to know such a great deal about computers and IP addresses,
never bothered to find out whether my email address worked. It's a
simple thing. You send an email. It either bounces or it doesn't.
I have great sympathy for Mr. Cramer's family having to go through the
distress and fear they must have felt when they heard about this email.
I have great empathy for them because MY family went through exactly the
same thing. Had Mr. Cramer shared some of these facts back in October of
2007, I would have been happy to communicate privately with him about
some of the steps we took as a family when it happened to us in 2000.
One of the first things I did at that point was CHANGE MY EMAIL ADDRESS
and keep it private so that I could not be contacted by unwanted
potential harassers.
