If Google does not index your website, you are effectively invisible. You will not appear for any search queries, and you will receive no organic traffic.

What Exactly Is the Google Index?

The Google index is a database of all the webpages crawled and saved by the search engine for use in search results.

Each page that appears in Google's search results must first be indexed. As a result, if your page is not indexed, it will not appear in search results.

Here's how indexing fits into the whole process:

·     Crawling: Googlebot searches the web for new or updated pages.

·     Indexing: Google examines the pages and saves them in a massive database.

Ranking: Google's algorithm selects and displays the best and most relevant pages from its index as search results.

How to see if your website is indexed by Google

Google makes it simple to determine whether your site has been indexed by using the “site:” search operator.

Here's how to do it:

1.  Visit Google.

2.  Enter the "site:" search operator followed by your domain in the search bar (e.g., site:yourdomain.com)

3.  You can see an estimate of how many of your pages Google has indexed if you look beneath the search bar.

If there are no results, the page has not been indexed. Google will display indexed pages as search results if they exist.

That's how you quickly check the indexing status of your pages. However, it is not the most practical method because it may be difficult to locate specific pages that have not been indexed.

You can also use Google Search Console to see if a specific page has been indexed. To accomplish this, enter the URL into the URL Inspection tool.

If that page has been indexed, it will display "URL is on Google."

If the page is not indexed, the words "URL is not on Google" will appear.

How Do I Say Google Index My Website?

If you have a new website, Google may take some time to index it. Crawling can take several days to several weeks. (Indexing usually occurs immediately after that, but it is not guaranteed.)

So, indexing can take time.

The simplest method is to request indexing through Google Search Console.

Google Search Console (GSC) is a free Google toolset that allows you to check your website's Google presence and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.

If you don't already have a GSC account, you'll need to:

Log in using your Google account.

Add a new property to your account (your website).

Check the website's ownership.

Submit a sitemap

A sitemap is essential for Google to discover URLs on your website. It can be extremely useful if you have recently launched your site or moved it.
