# Keynotes, Theme, and Tracks Voting

We are currently asking for organizer and volunteer opinions regarding
a few important decisions for SeaGL 2020. Please submit your vote as
soon as possible!

## Keynotes

Per usual, we will be inviting keynotes across experience levels.
Voting closes on 6/12!

- Newer Voices:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1iZ8resdvuwuOdYL5960I6rOPHYh4WOL8QkWhjYCqudg/

- Experienced: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1HlghzWBxHrj2LMoJ1Dj4wk45MOmjF_R260fX53XA9Hw/

## Theme

We have been collecting theme ideas during the last few meetings, it
is time to decide on one!

## Tracks

Finally, we are going to give tracks a go this year. Submit your
suggestions early and often!

# Statement supporting BLM and reaffirming our commitment to social justice

The world is a hectic place right now. All of the organizers agreed at
this week's meeting that we want to put together a statement ASAP. We
are targeting this **FRIDAY, June 12th**. Please help with the
drafting process here:

---

# Hallway Track Brainstorming

One of the primary reasons we attend (and organize) conferences is to
meetup and share ideas with friends, old and new. With the move to a
virtual venue, this has been a consistent struggle. SeaGL is first and
foremost, a community conference. I feel that making the Hallway Track
a first class citizen should be one of our highest priorities. With
this in mind, please help brainstorm what we are going to do for 2020
here:

---

# Committee Chairs Wanted

The hunt to fill all of our committee chairs continues. If you (or
someone you can nudge) is interested, please reach out! The
expectation is that you make, or send along an update to, each of our
(soon to be) weekly meetings. Aside from that, I am gathering further
descriptions of each and can answer most questions that may arise.

Here are the areas we are explicitly seeking more help for:

- Website & Technical
- Finance & Fundraising
- Promotion & Outreach
- Logistics & On"Site"
- Attendee Party & Hallway Track

---

# SeaGL 2020 Organizer Mailinglist

Finally, there was a request at our most recent meeting to create a
mailinglist just for SeaGL 2020 organizing. I've gone ahead and done
this! Everyone with an @seagl.org email should automagically be
subscribed, but if you don't have one of those and/or would like to
receive emails with another address, please go here to join:

Anyone who is a member of the list can post by sending messages to
seag...@seagl.org

---

Whew, that was a big one. Thank you so much for making it this far!

If you have any questions, comments, thoughts, or feedback, please let
me know via email, etherpad, or another channel.

Talk to everyone soon!

Hi All,

Salt, thank you for this fantastic summary email of everything we need folks' action on.  Please read through everything Salt has sent and comment where necessary.

This is regarding JUST the items with due dates of tomorrow, 12 June 2020.

We have ONE DAY left on keynote voting, so PLEASE get your votes in!  as of a couple days ago we only had four responses, eek, and we really need your votes.  Thank you!
Also I've written a first draft of a statement.  It's uh... strong.  I think it needs to be strong!  But I really would love input on it, phrasing can probably be better, etc etc etc.

thank you!

Reminder that EOD is your LAST day to vote on keynotes!  We only have SIX votes, and I know people care about this process a lot, so please vote!

None of those links work for people who are not in the domain. All of them say you have to have permissions.

Sorry for the confusion! While nominations are an open process,
traditionally keynote voting has been limited to the event organizers
as one of the perks.

Attacks on each of hte layers in the OSI model:

We're considering "OSI Layer 8: freeing the people" as a theme. We could then cover attacks on that 8th layer, on our freedoms, as part of the theme. This further ties into BLM in that lack of equality, lack of human rights, and discrimination are all attacks on our freedoms.

What concrete steps related to such a theme could we take in furtherance of resisting racism and promoting equality?
