247 new posts to sci.physics this morning. Seven were worth reading.
sci.chem is similarly sterile.

Uncle Al logged on in 1995. 79,300 posts since then. The intervening
decade has witnessed a tragedy of the commons. sci.physics has deeply
fallen over the line of Sturgeon's Law. Gresham's law rules to its
odious inevitable destination. Unmoderated Usenet is a river of shit.

In order to maintain an untenable position one must be actively
ignorant - though stupidity, religion, or insanity are passively
adequate.

Screw it. Let the world save itself. I've got better things to do
with my resources. The parity Eotvos experiment will be replayed
calormetrically, by a chemical group, under written agreement.
Physics groups are still talking and saying nothing. Let their wind
blow - my people will do it. Read about the results, either way,
after they are published.

Goodbye and - less about six sainted folks - go worship Nehemiah

And which seven would they be?

I tend to agree.
I unsubbed from sci.physics a couple of years ago since it had become
indistinguishable from alt.alien.visitors

a) You contributed to it by responding to the idiots
and trolls, and worse yet, engaging in flamewars
with same. You're hardly in a position to gripe.

b) A lot of us in sci.chem will miss your bits of
obscure knowledge. You've contributed a lot that
we would not have known otherwise.

I hope your proclamation only applies to the two
newsgroups you've posted it to, and not that oasis
of high signal-to-noise ratio to which you also
contribute. (And which will not be mentioned here,
for obvious reasons.)

Hmm... don't you mean a 'river of blood' from all the unscroupulous
physicists out there stealing your ideas that you intend to excoriate?

Don't racism, bigotry, and antisemitism count in your book? Or is it that

Hear hear! So mote it be! I am glad you are finally realizing how useless a
frustrated old chemist is on a physics newsgroup. Uncle is tired of being a

Let me be the first to tell you just how much your prescence on this
newsgroup will be missed - not! Unkie's real reason for leaving us is
because he doesn't want to send anyone on the group a freebie sample diamond

Al,

I've been gone for 3 months now and came back to hear you're throwing
in the towel. Please reconsider--I hope my "Goose Physics" post didn't
push you over the edge. You're only one of a handful that has ever
answered a real physics question--for that (and you humor of course) I
thank you.

I understand your feeling Al, the amount of crap/noise on sci.chem has
risen to a really intolerable level and that also is my reason to
reduce my activity on sci.chem to a minimum. I've moved away to
moderated forums, but I really think it is a shame that sci.chem has
become what it is now (thanks to brian a m stuckless and loads of other
trolls).

1) Any 1st year law student would tell you that written agreements
mean nothing by themselves. Enforcability demands much more than a
well written agreement even where there is an initial meeting of the
minds.

2) Do you have access to previously qualified test equipment or are
you rolling your own?

3) Why do you think it remains a "parity Eotvos experiment"?

Bitterness is a harsh taskmaster. Are you sure you're up to it?

Are any of your groupies leaving with you or do you fear you need
some sort of rear guard? (I guess this is how we find out. LOL)

Regardless, good luck in actually achieving *some* sort of results,
*any* sort of results. If you do, no matter what they are, I'm
sure we'll hear about them from you.

Uncle Dickhead does not have a legal problem. His problem is
stupidity. Anybody who thinks he or she can bring GR down by
challenging the EP is a stupid crackpot. And Uncle Dickhead is an ass
kisser on top of being a crackpot. Ass kisser is worse than crackpot.

Nobody needs to take the place of Uncle Dickhead or any of the other
ass kissers on sci.physics. We need creative thinkers and pioneers,
not ass kissers. If we needed book physics, we would go to the fucking
library. Fuck that! We want answers to interesting questions such as,
why do things fucking fall? or why does an electron have an electric
field around it? We don't need no more chicken-shit math theories a la
Newton or Einstein to tell us that things fall. We already fucking
know that. If Uncle Dickhead does not have the answers or is not
interested in finding the answers, fuck him and the ass-kissing mules
he rode in on. Damnit!

Oh, c'mon now. Its not that bad. We're a little thick here with

So be it; we lose an abrasive but highly erudite poster who
at least had more than a clue than I do. :-)

As for the world saving itself -- the world does not need
saving. Humans, maybe...but the world will perservere,
even were it to turn into Venus from all of the oceans
evaporating because of human activity (e.g., global
warming + heavy pollution with SO2 + whatever else we
can do to make the environment toxic to us and to our
fellow animals).

Consider that the Earth has a kinetic energy of
approximately 2.69 * 10^33 J. It would take far more
energy than we puny humans can generate to mess *that* up. ;-)

As for Eotvos -- we shall see.

In order to maintain an untenable position one must be actively
ignorant - though stupidity, religion, or insanity are passively
adequate.

Which you have certainly achieved, Uncle HAL9000. Any idiot can call
other people "idiot" as their standard form of endearment.

Screw it. Let the world save itself.

The truth is, if you need Uncle Dickhead on sci.physics, you, too, are
an ass kisser. If you want book physics, go to sci.physics.research
and leave sci.physics to those who are really trying to understand
nature. I am fucking tired of ass kissers like Uncle Dickhead whose
favorite fucking refrain is: physics is not about the why of things
but the how of things. Fuck them and the mule they sleep with. I want
to know why things fall, goddamnit! I don't want chicken shit voodoo
Star-Trek physics, i.e., black holes, wormholes, time travel and the
like. I don't want math physics that explains nothing. I want real
physics, I want mechanisms and principles. If you don't know and don't
care to know, go fucking live with Uncle Dickhead so he can pack a
chiral diamond up your ass and see if the rest of sci.physics gives a
rat's ass. ahahaha...

Really? Then it is a matter for the police, not idle tongue waggle.

Now please tell us what physical stalking has taken place and how
you know about it including police case numbers and jurisdiction.
Otherwise this is just another unfounded claim.

That's not to say that in Uncle Al's case I wouldn't be surprised
if it were true.

All too often the distance between sanity and nutsoidness has so
diminished in the newsgroups that when someone leaves it is
sometimes difficult to decide which camp has been improved.

Are you in love with Uncle Al?

I suggest using remailers. I never post under my real name, and use remailers to obliterate all traces that would lead back to me.

It may not be very brave, but doing that allows me to say what I want, without fear of paying a price.

Nonsense.

"A couple of people" means email. 7 people means email. Making the scene

Kick or kiss him (reader's choice) goodbye and lets get back to physics

There is a reason why Uncle Dickhead would attract violence on his
person, even though I very much doubt that it happened. Uncle Dickhead
is known to be a virulent racist asshole who has, on several

Don't we all? But how the heck is anyone supposed to figure out
these underlying mechanisms if their effects can't be accurately
measured and predicted in various situations?

To do that they must be modelled mathematically, even if that
may give only a provisional and imperfect view, like a few
lights pinned to the joints of a figure dancing in the dark.

In fact mathematics does reveal physical principles, such as
conservation and symmetry. There's nothing magic about maths -
It's only codified common sense (which sometimes turns to
counterintuitive _uncommon_ sense when taken to its logical
conclusions).

Over the last five years, it has been ONLY Uncle Al who has
consistently written original posts that were about physics.
And he posted hundreds.

With the exception of one scientist, all the others respond
to posts, they do not originate posts. The reason this
happens is because those physicists do not have the time
to start something; they are working on real stuff. Uncle
was the only person who took the time to paw through all
the crap that is posted here.

them. ahahaha...

Excuses, excuses. We have the power of reasoning and the ability to
use logical deduction. We alos have powerful principle of cause and
effect. We need a causal model for every observed phenomenon. Math
only shows the evolution of events, it does not explain causes.

>To do that they must be modelled mathematically,

Bullshit. They must be explained causally in a language that everyone
can understand. Otherwise, your model is just another "look ma, I know
math but I'm stupid as fuck" model. ahahaha... It's fucking crap.

If a model is not about cause and effect, it's chicken shit.

>In fact mathematics does reveal physical principles, such as
>conservation and symmetry.

No. Math does not reveal shit. Observation and causal logic do. To
reveal a phenomenon, one must explain the reason why it is as
observed. It does not suffice to say that energy is conserved. One
must explain why. If you can't explain why, for example, an object in
motion remains in motion, you might as well be sucking the hind tit of
a fucking mule, AFAIC.

Nonsense. I see Sam does much better than Uncle Al ever did "pawing"
through the nonsense. While he was posting here Franz did quite well
though at times he flew off the handle and occasionally lost sight
of the good reasons for being here in the first place.

As far as originating posts Sam has been the king for quite some time
and it seems Baez has dropped out of generating stuff from scratch,
at least in the past few months.

Without providing a direct answer you here acknowledge that your
earlier comment was an outright lie since no physical stalking has
happened.

When one posts to usenet one licenses all comers to respond with their
coments. I think *some* excellent arguments have been made regarding Uncle
Al's conduct and the way he conducts business. He has failed to reply to
them in a cogent fashion. The fact that you consider those exchanges where
Al eventually tucked tail and ran despite your stated opinions about his
superiority in every way and in every realm clearly positions you as a
volunteer apologist.

If you're complaining that Al's public comments were forwarded to the
PRC physics team conducting the chiral Eotvos experiment then you
ignore what "public statements" means.

>>That's not to say that in Uncle Al's case I wouldn't be surprised
>>if it were true.

What, no comment to this?

Cute, but no bannana.

>>Are you in love with Uncle Al?

> I am assuming that this is a sexist question meant to imply
> that the only possible reason that I can admire Uncle is
> due to a base sexual attraction. Does this make you feel
> superior to Uncle?

1) While it is often said that the best defense is a good offense this
evasionary reply of yours doesn't qualify because it is so transparent.

2) Any time one assumes facts not in evidence one is making a major
mistake.

3) The question is the consequence of observing someone who is so very
clearly an apologist in the face of damning evidence that love would
at least present some excuse where no other reason is evident.

4) Any truly mature person understands that while lower intelligence
humans universally confuse sex and love the two can be, and sometimes
are, mutually exclusive. That's not to say that in your case they
don't combine, but that's not a fact in evidence (as yet, but you've
been skirting the edges.)

5) Every human has their own set of attributes. Uncle Al doubtless has
some superior to mine, and there's just no question in my mind that I
have some superior to his. Your "superiority" question smacks of
testestorone poisoning. Do you write all your own material?

Based on all the above, along with a significant number of other
comments you've made in recent months, I have come to hold the opinion
that you must indeed be in love with Uncle Al. What that means to me
compared to what that means to you is not important.

Not that any of this matters to anyone other than you, and perhaps
Uncle Al. But it sure explains the unwarranted awe. I'm glad we have
been able to clear this up. Thanks for participating.

As far as being sexist goes you would do well to put your house in order
before you accuse others. The women I hang around with really get angry
whem someone like you, who claims to participate in life on equal terms
with everyone else, plays the stalking card the moment that the going
gets a little rough. Another version of crying wolf we really don't need
because it tends to desensitize folks who need to keep their guard up for
those times when the real dangers accompanying an actual physical stalking
do come along.

In the meantime, please study objective and subjective.

Just to keep things in perspective, I think the chiral Eotvos experiment
proposed by Uncle Al should be run and someday will be run. I think it
will result in a null output. I detest loopholes. But IMO the reason
no one is going to run it for some time is Uncle Al. For now he and
the experiment seem to have been informally blacklisted. That's what
happens when you bite the hand that feeds you. Sounds like you and
Uncle Al are the only ones surprised. Is that brilliant?

It's ironic that if Uncle Al drops by now he'll be able,
like Mark Twain, to read his own "obituaries" so to speak.

Note to Al ... it is possible to be polite and accurate instead of nasty and

I'd like to make a suggestion to you. Take it for what it is
worth.

Nothing can be gained from this sort of dialog. Neither you nor
"Al Zenner" will agree, nor will you likely agree to disagree.
You have stated that you admire UA's contributions. Others have
started to "poke fun" at your for this declaration. They aren't
picking on UA, they are picking on *you*. UA is a big boy, has
had his share of hard knocks, will get even more (no doubt).

Now it is time for you to learn *your* lesson, and not from me.
Keep your eye on the ball. The game is cricket. Right now,
*you* are the ball. If you can't control the dialog to mutual
gain, use your killfile. Maybe you are big too, and enjoy this
type of banter. It just doesn't seem like you are enjoying it,
and it seems like you are being vicitmized in some fashion. I
hate to see time (and emotion) wasted on defending ones temporal
choices.

OK, I'm off my soapbox...

Be careful with that "ACK! THBBFT!".... and stay up-wind from

Aye, thanks for the sentiments, Tutweiler. I appreciate that.
"True" on your take of plagiarizing, because it is indeed hard
to establish originality in these days of hi-tech and mass
communications. In the mess of plaguarizing, whether intentional
or reinventing the wheel, it is hard to know who is P(0), P(1) or P(n).
Al's Eotvoes priority demands may very well fall victim to some
obscure foot note, like when I tried to patent cosmetic/artsy "disco"
type contact lenses in 1970... It was rejected because the examiner
found a foot note on page 112 in a Canadian optics text book from
1960 suggesting that "ornamental" contacts maybe in fashion one day.

However, there is really a deeper issue in a smile and laugh then
just fun and it being good for one's existence. I posted about that
recently:.... When you (generically) go for a job interview, or you
want to sell or buy something to/from a firm, always, very first check
whether you see/hear employees laughing. If you don't hear any
"ahahaha"'s coming out of their offices, then turn around, and beat it,
fast. Real fast. Don't take the job nor buy nor sell anything there.
Why? .... they have no reasons to laugh, they are uptight and
unhappy because they have not and they are not making any
money.... ahahaha....AHAHAHAHAHAHA....
All they have is their anger and purport to know everything to cover
up their own abject failures...... ahahaha.... ahahaha....
Walk away and laugh about them and be grateful for not having
been snared into their miserable world....... ahahaha.....
----- Conversely, don't ever hire a humorless person, obviously.
Take care, tut

Wrong from inception. I engage only posters who have demonstrated
an ability to make worthwhile contributions to the discussion and
I don't shy away from core issues.

It seems unlikely you and I will ever have a substantive discussion.
At best your "assistance" is, in this instance, patronizing.
