We will be a hindrance to traffic no matter how fast we ride- we will never be riding as fast as the cars.  The whole point of CM is to demand that traffic go at OUR speed, not car speed.  I know some people get antsy about slow speed, but I've seen fixie owners going slowly both forward and backwards- I know they are able to.  Cars are the real "road hazard"- they're the really dangerous objects.

the alternative CM rides are just being talked about now. it will
probably be april when it starts. there are about 15 or so people
interested. Just sick of the idea of being a hinderance to traffic as
counter productive and want to show, with out any other motives, that
    bikes are traffic.
alot of people don't like the speed of the ride. there are those,
especially fixed, that physically can not go that slow.
Disobeying traffic laws is also counter productive.
i understand we can't all ride as quickly as we would like, but the
same time, the pace needs to be traffic safe. or it is pointless and
just makes us out to be road hazards, or a parade or something.

I think New Year's eve sounds good.

it sounds (?) like there might be 2 or 3 rides this month:

1) Christmas day ride at the liberty pole at 6pm -- standard ride-- maybe we could all dress up like santa, elves, reindeer, et al? or something??

2) New Years Eve Ride on December 31 -- not sure of time or place -- can anyone fill that info in?

3) i'm hearing from some of bmxers and fixie folks that they'd like to have a faster ride -- sohee why not? I wasn't sure if a new date / time had been selected or if they wanted to jump in with either ride mentioned above. could someone give more details?

cheers!

New Years Eve 6pm at the Liberty Pole....Critical Mass for everyone who couldn't ride on Christmas.  Plus there's always a lot going on downtown on New Years Eve.
