I like to memorize long passages of Scripture, but I find verse numbers to be cumbersome and thus I am not good with remembering references other than chapters.

Can anyone speak to their experience or opinion on memorizing verse numbers along with the passage?

I like memorising individual verses with references, and chapters for passages.   I created a label in Remember me "reference" and I tag all the verse that I want to memorise the reference for.

I create a label for each chapter that I want to memorise (I got the idea from this post: https://groups.google.com/g/rememberapp/c/-kRQHk0bevY/m/CGN2d1lJBQAJ) and don't bother memorising the individual verses.  I have unhidden the fourth tab, "All", so I can see the full chapter in context.  Then I use the previous verse, rather than the reference, as the prompt for the next verse.

Hi, JV!  I use the verse numbers as a tool when I first begin to memorize a passage. Sometimes it helps me to know where I am and if I'm on the right track. For example, when I was memorizing John 3:1-21, I know, for example, that it's at v9 that Nicodemus says, "But how can these things be?" And if I'm at that verse before then, I know I've left something out. And I know that at v 3, 9, and 10, that the phrase is "__________ ANSWERED and said unto him" at the beginning.  So, I use the verses as memory points throughout.  After they're committed to memory, I tend to forget them -- sometimes even the chapter, and the Gospels, sometimes even the book -- so I've turned on verses. I think entering the numbers as I go and then entering the verse itself at the end (in the app, not in the browser, which doesn't provide for that), will be a great tool to help me remember this info. I hope that's helpful for you!!! :) God bless, ak
