Congratulations Count, pretty exciting isn't it? I fired up my old RCA
Victor 'Strato-World' yesterday coupled with my penta-loop. Can you
pick up 700WLW out of Cincinnati? You should be able to. Have fun :-)

Thank you RHF, I am interested in seeing how many stations East of the
Mississippi I can DX for now.

Thanks,
Yes, can pick up WLW in Cinncy very well, as well as WBBM out of
Chicago. Also picking up WSB Atlanta, WBT in Charlotte. Looking to
see how many stations and states East of the Mississippi that I can
DX.

There's a challenge...
But the SRIII already has a pretty good impedance match to
free space, and so it can't be improved as much as a worse
radio, by the loop.
The time to check it is in the daytime. At night all signals
are strong, loop or no loop. Selectivity pays more than
sensitivity at night.

On the internet, nobody knows you're a jerk.
LOL! I'm 70 miles north of NYC and *I* can't get 1010 WINS!
I like WCBS 880 however.
Maybe the skip over water, or the antenna array is pointed for a
southerly direction. I have yet to pick up European MW stations,
maybe have to actually go the beach in order to do that. Sometimes I
can get WCBS like a local, other times Radio Progresso, the Cuban on
880 smothers it.

During the day, I am picking up a lot of Florida stations a couple of
hundred miles away, and even getting WSB in Atlanta a little bit. You
are right, at night, the selectivity is important. I am going to try
the loop with my old boatanchors: Lafayette HE-10 and Hallicrafters
S-38, both are pretty hot on the MW band.
