The following was inspired by visits to a small aquarium in Costa
Rica and the national museum of the Cayman Islands:

(N.B. some artistic liberties have been taken with the natural
history.)

To: "That's Amore" (1952) (Harry Warren, music, Jack Brooks, lyrics)

Subject: Dean Martin - That's Amore - YouTube

Within the reef, where creatures vie,
There lurks a thief who feeds on fry:

When you spot a big eel who has no sex appeal,
That's a moray.
Lurking deep undersea in a dark cavity,
That's a moray.

Sneaky thief, he would have a beef, if I gave him grief on the
reef and annoyed him.
Toothy smile, predatory guile, undulating style mean that I'll
just avoid him.

When anguilliform fish is a Japanese dish,
That's a moray.
Never easy to catch, even harder to hatch are these eels.

When your sushi derives from a fish that survives by foray,
Lest you squirm, I'll confirm there is no other term,
That's a moray.

Spider Robinson had a dozen or so lines along the same theme. A few from
memory:

If your vitamins be mostly B, C, and D,
Take some more A.

He's a comical man, his name's Amsterdam,
That's a Morey.

My new ray gun tries to knock out both your eyes,
It's a Moe-Ray.

Etc., etc.

He is a master of the ways of Sushido.

In any event, have a Muraenidae, everyone!
