Did Daniel post more frequently to RGP than he let on?

If you were around back then, did you ever suspect Daniel may have been on of Russ' impersonators? I'm rabbit holing through the archives again tonight while I play some tournaments, and came across more than a few of Russ' impersonators. Daniel was posting to RGP back then and often interacted with a few of the better impostors. (The thread where they accuse Daniel of being a cheater is worth a read if you've never seen it before, one of the better fakeGCA posts)

But then, we have a first (and only) time poster come in and set up a thread asking who the better player is, between Annie Duke and Kathy Liebert. Within 10 minutes we had a response that probably helped keep Annie away from RGP!

Mean spirited, hateful, something you'd never expect to hear from Daniel N (although he never held back when posting about Annie, so you wouldn't be surprised if you were familiar with the Annie Puke tirades from that timeframe) and I immediately wondered if it wasn't him behind one of the fakeGCA accounts.

Curious if anyone else had a similar suspicion.
By the way, there are some great threads back in our archives... you can get lost down there! Believe it or not, they actually used to talk about poker on this newsgroup! I'll continue sharing some of the interesting stuff, but the really good shit I'm bookmarking for myself! Ya'll probably wouldn't be interested anyway... it relates to poker! :) LOL o0o

Thank Pop-Tard for the poker silence.

Interesting (to me) sidenote; America's Cardroom tables interpret keystrokes, even when 'enable hotkeys for buttons' is unchecked!!! Still not sure which key does what, but when you're penning a post RGP and on the table pops up anything can happen! I'm not sure which one caused the table to 'disco' but it happened twice! (autocalled a few bets as well, may have been a spacebar on that one) weird that if I'm focused on the table the entire time, all type goes straight to the chatbox; but if the table is in the background and I'm typing when it pops up, I get a random (often call) action! I reported another bug earlier tonight, related to their 'sit out' functionality failing to sit one out if it is clicked while on break. I'll hit when I know I'm going to be late getting back to the game so as not to be an inconsiderate dickhead, but hear it stop for my action and come back to an empty timebank every time! Reported, but not holding my breath for them to fix it. Doesn't look like they've worked on the client in 10 years! But, I'm talking to myself again, you guys aren't interested in teh pokerz! ;)

Like I alluded to, get PopinTwat to shut the fuck up for a month or two

I thank him for keeping this newsgroup ALiVE! It may have veered off course, but he did what he had to do to keep it going all these years! You guys can hang on to RussGeorgievPolitics for a little while longer, but I do intend to introduce some poker back into the discussions ;) do you still play? :)

Good stuff.

I doubt Daniel impersonated anyone here, just my opinion.

GROAN had caught him with his hand in the sock-drawer previously:
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/rec.gambling.poker/CH7VOsdTXs8/numdtB3yvIIJ

He then picked off Danny's bluff, using his response/denial to point out with a high probability that Danny was lying, and actually using alternate ID's:
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/rec.gambling.poker/84EGp_gXneM/rRen97RTeZYJ

No response from Danny to that latter, he realized he was beat and mucked his hand... but I'm not convinced he stopped! One of the Russ impersonators had an identical style as our poker golden-boy when he chose to show us his 'bad' side - which coincidentally disappeared from RGP around the same time.

I think Danny smartened up and realized some of his posts were not conducive to the image he wanted to portray to the world. 100% good move on his part from a business perspective; Daniel had many endearing qualities that made us root for him, while cupboy was a 'cunt' that made some want to kick his teeth in! On RGP I'm certain there were a few regulars experiencing schadenfreude around that time that would have argued I have it backwards, but that's why I loved RGP! All types! ;) You've got the sweet innocent Popinjay/Dip types, and the super batshit crazy ... was going to name names here, but realize it's the rest of RGP! LOL! Danny was both!

Apologies for the language above, but that was the word Danny seemed most fond of when referring to Annie so it seeemed apropos to retain it.

Believe it or not, I am a Negreanu fan! (That wants to kick his teeth in!) LOL He's definitely good for the game, but it could have happened to a nicer person... Durr seems like a nice guy, Doug Polk, don't recall hearing about either of them initiating unwarranted attacks on female pros.

But it could have been worse, he's never goaded a female poker player into committing suicide like the doucebag on 2+2 !
Noteworthy, I remained a man of my word! I never bought another book with his name on the cover! I am re-reading small stakes hold'em however; (I never said I was going to throw away the ones I already had!) It's nice to see all the inadvertent props to Gary Carson in SSH; frequent footnotes referring to Carson's book on hold'em to validate their claims; I'm going to have to re-read that one next!

Ok, I do remember that. I just googled her. Is this the girl who got "penis on the back"? I had forgotten all about that fiasco. But who was the "douchebag" who "goaded her into suicide? I remember very little about this, except that it was sad. And "penis on the back", how can I forget that?

Tanya is active on facebook; I don't log in frequently to the Dip account, but did recently to see if I could find one of our old-timers ... noticed a post from Tanya on the timeline, so she's alive and well. My wall was full of former posters, they look to be active on facebook - and a lot of them *seem* to have given up on poker. One of our former 'authors' may be a teacher now; mentioned he wrote a book on poker and the responses (from people who knew him in real life) were genuinely surprised he had ever played a hand much less written a book about it! If you've got a facebook account, log in one night and look around. :) Haven't done it myself yet, but is on the agenda.

I can believe several gave up on poker. At the time I believed many of them were in it as a fad and could never continue on talent, because they didn't have talent. There was so much they just didn't know about poker.

I'm curious who this former "author" is.

I'll see what I can find.

Wow! thanks for posting these old threads, great reads. I know I'm not an active poster and didn't post at all back then but what memories, all the old names. I would have never remembered Bill, even though he has said he posted then, but see the old posts, much easier to interact with then. So much better than the drivel of today, poker whining instead of political whining! Keep 'em coming!

Guessing you didn't click the links; 2 old GROAN posts and my 'man of his word' thread; POTB was primarly on 4 - albeit there were a couple threads here (PDS started one that I can recall - I thought it was in bad taste, but she was pretty dumb - so I didn't hold it against her)

For a long long time I had a friend request from Jason. But I told him that I didn't use FB and just had it because by having it I could examine the pages of different casinos. In fact, I had a friend who also obviously found me and made a friend request, but I never accepted her either. Anyway, I didn't see either one last night so I guess they gave up on me. I'm an asshole.

I have Twitter also, but it's locked up, with no followers, I just follow myself and tweet articles to myself and follow different casinos or things of interest.

Besides people I actually know, I get all these pictures of people from Nigeria or some fucking place, I know they don't know me so why is their fucking picture on my FB? Once in awhile I go through and delete them.

I do follow Trump on Twitter. At least that way I get a lot of things to read at 3:00 in the morning. That guy never sleeps.

Understood; just pointing out that it wasn't in anything I just shared. Looking back, I see you were responding to Popinjay - "Yeah, they did" was in response to his statement that Tanya and Fell "seemed like nice kids" - and the remainder of your line just flew in from left field!
That's why it didn't compute in my head! :)

I *thought* you were responding sarcastically to MarkDoubt who said the old threads were good reads and "keep em coming".

Your response (if sarcastic) seemed more apropos there, so that's how I originally read it! My apologies.

Funny sidenote: being familiar with POTB (because of the threads on 4 and here) when people started talking about the POTY I assumed the first 3 words were the same and had no idea WTF anyone was talking about! Google didn't help too much either - although I'm sure I had some interesting search results!

Paul didn't create me until 2006... used me a lot through 2012 and then put me back in the drawer (allowing me to pop up a rare occasion to say Hi to Ramashiva and find out who died!) I was very happy to be recommissioned recently to save RGP! He got tired of talking with the same old doo-doo heads and my job is to bring back different old doo-doo heads!
