Hi, Jonne.
I try  to  install realXtend-Naali-N900-0.2.0.  I  taked it  here realXtend-Naali-N900-0.2.0.
I have  read your  file READ:

realXtend Naali N900 edition
============================

WHAT YOU NEED BEFORE INSTALL

1. The 1.2 firmware
Make sure you have the 1.2 firmawe installed on your device. Naali uses Qt 4.6.2 so this is not optional.

2. Maemo extras devel repo
Add maemo-extras repo in you app manager http://wiki.maemo.org/Extras-devel#How_ … ras-devel. Please read the warning notes from top. If you are not comfortable with what you are about to do. You can stop this right here. Naali is in early dev phase also so the same warnings applies to Naali. I would not go as far as that you would need to flash your device due to Naali but this is not complete software.

3. rootsh
You can get this from the Application Manager.
You need this for later steps to install packages and when copying naali shortcuts into the system folders.

4. unzip
    sudo gainroot
    apt-get install unzip

5. QtScript 4.6.2
For me the 1.2 firmware update did not include QtScript but you can install it manually:
sudo gainroot (if not as root already)
    apt-get install libqt4-script

6. GLES1
Some games may have already installed this to you. Check that you have it:
sudo gainroot (if not as root already)
    apt-get install libgles1

INSTALLING AND RUNNING NAALI

1. Open a terminal and you should be now in ~/ that is /home/user/. You can verify this with 'pwd' command. You should open a new terminal so you are not in root mode. Or type 'exit' if you are.

    mkdir naali
    cd naali
    cp /home/user/MyDocs/naali/setup-naali.sh .
    cp /home/user/MyDocs/naali/setup-naali-shortcuts.sh .
    chmod +x setup-naali.sh setup-naali-shortcuts.sh

2. Run the scripts
NOTE: DO NOT RUN NAALI SETUP SCRIPT AS ROOT. Make sure of this.
    ./setup-naali.sh
    sudo gainroot
    ./setup-naali-shortcuts.sh
    exit

3. Make shortcut and/or run
NOTE: DO NOT RUN NAALI THE FIRST TIME AS ROOT. This will create configs and files with root access only and later runs you wont be able to access them in write mode.
You can now add a desktop shortcut to naali from the usual N900 path. Or start naali from terminal with.

    cd /home/user/naali/naali/
    ./start

 And
etcetera
...
But  i  have  some  truble  here:

2. Run the scripts
NOTE: DO NOT RUN NAALI SETUP SCRIPT AS ROOT. Make sure of this.
    ./setup-naali.sh
    sudo gainroot
    ./setup-naali-shortcuts.sh
    exit

I think is it  becouse root.I have the line:
Permission  denied.
I  did not  find  how  to  be
Make sure of root.
I  only  can  type 'pwd'
And  it  will  line  without  root.  Can  you  help me?
Else,  i  want say to  you  big thank you  for your
program work and patience. I  want  use  it.

My respect to you, Sofya  Kassaye

Hello,

Fun to see my little hobby project is still getting attention after all these years. The Nokia N900 build pops up every now and then here on the mailing list :) I see you have found my zip file that has the prebuilt Naali, if anyone else might see this now or later it can be found from my dropbox https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3589544/realXtend-Naali-N900-0.2.0.zip

As it says in the instructions you need a program called "rootsh" from the default N900 application manager (where you install all your other apps too). I hope its still available there. This program enables you to gain root access on a terminal just by typing "sudo gainroot" as shown in the next step when installing unzip.

Also I have to note that I haven't used my N900 as my main phone for a years or so. I dont know if firmwares there have updated from 1.2 that I'm stressing in the instructions. If they have, again, I don't have any idea if this might break the build somehow. If you get the client to work you still need to host a (possibly quite old) opensim/taiga against it. I don't remember what kind of login UI there was etc.

I'm sorry that I cant help much. It's so long ago and I only worked on it for a week or so to get the thing running and then kind of lost interest :)

P.S. This will only run on the Nokia N900 Maemo5 operating system. This build will not work on Meego etc. based phones, those would be different builds all together.

Best regards,
Jonne Nauha (aka Pforce)

Thanks for the reply. Still, I'll ask one more thing. Suddenly John can help me again.

i get the work client on  my maemo N900 and still need to  try it. I  want it  use in Second life ( Second life com). But  i  dont know  how. Because world.evocativi.com not  work...
You wrote in  file  READ :

When you start naali you should have one demo audi world ready to try. You can create your own avatar in http://world.evocativi.com/
world.  evocativi .   com

And i  dont use "opensim/taiga". Opensim may  be a virt world/game but  i  dont  know much  about taigra.

 The  UI  looks like that:

1

 opt here default

2

secondlife - it is my  work  here

3

4
4

5

6

7

Can  you  have  any  ideas  what  i  must  write  in  the UI?
Or how shall I know it?

All the services and urls you are mentioning are not going to work anymore. We or (we we're Evocativi at the time) do not host anything opensim/taiga/secondlife related anymore.

This N900 client will only be useful for you if you know how to host your own worlds, and frankly only few people know how to setup a Taiga and the authentication server needed for this (all the documentation and wikis are long gone). It's all so legacy stuff that you probably cant get it to work and even if you did you could not do very much with it.

Sorry but I cant help you any further with this. There are no worlds you can login with it if you are not hosting them yourself.
