STP 2013

STP weekend, and a fine one it was. We were the beneficiaries of warm temps and tailwinds both days for about 204 miles.  I rode with 10,000 of my closest friends, and heard relatively few discouraging words, despite an abundance of pace lines and spandex.

Fellow Rivendell riders I observed included a Rambouillet and a shiny new Atlantis.  The trusty Bleriot performed well and received many nice compliments.

I had a great ride on my AHH with my two boys and my friend Tom, who rode his Bleriot. Had a nice riding chat with Eric from Davis CA on his Dahon (he was 1-dayin' it), saw a pretty Homer with a basket out front and newer-blue paint at the halfway point but couldn't find the owner to say hello, and that was about it.

Hey Tim, good to hear from you. Maybe we'll see you on the road next year? The boys had fun, but they put in an effort. STP is Imminently doable for elementary and middle schoolers with planning and preparation, and a nice way to convey the import of perseverance and a sense of real accomplishment.
