If you need wide pedals, you should take a look at the VO Sabot pedals. http://store.velo-orange.com/index.php/components/pedals/grand-cru-sabot-pedals.html At about 4 inches square, the platform is supremely comfortable, and at least in the year I've been using them on one bike, they seem durable and well-made. The rounded pins give very good traction but haven't had any negative impact on shoes or shins.

I just put a set on a charity auction build, here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/37542512@N04/17295502672/ They are very attractive, and versatile.

Subject: Re: [RBW] What do Ricendell riders use for cycling shoes (not clipless).

The idea of more supportive pedals did cross my mind.
Might be the best answer so as to not have to depend on a special pair of shoes for riding.

Gr-9's are beautiful pedals but too narrow for my wide feet. I like something wide like the MKS Touring as they are wide enough.

I'll have to look into trying some pedals as well as shoes and see what works best. Thanks for the recommendations and please keep them coming.

Or, might I add — these pedals from Rob at Ocean Air Cycles sells are extremely beautiful and capable — I love supporting local builders too.

Hey Pudge, what do the VO pedals truly measure on the bike , in mm's ?   I mean if you put a measuring tape against the arm and out to the end ?  And is the fore/aft measurement of the body itself also truly 100mm's ?  (From the front edge to the back edge of the body)

I ask this because it seems there is no defined standard of what a pedal actually measures .  So manufacturer dimensions can be misleading .

For example, Wellgo MG-1's and all similar type while they list them at 114.6 x 106.2 x 30.2 , the actual for/aft of the body is more like 93mm . The width is accurate. The inconsistency of the for/aft is due to the design of this and most BMX type 2 sided pedals is more like a parallelogram if you look at it from the side. So the manufacture listed for/aft is for the total , but the actual usable platform of each side is considerably less. .

The VP Harrier is the widest I have yet found, 120mm wide !  120 x 110 x 12 mm's !

I'll pile on here and urge the original poster to try a wider, flatter pedal without the sharp edges, like a Grip King, Sneaker Pedal, VO Sabot, etc. It will make a huge difference in comfort because they don't dig into your sole nearly as much.

OK, we'll make this the parallel pedal thread.  I've been drooling over Raceface Atlas pedals since I first saw them.  They are as long as Grip Kings, and as wide and thin as Thin Gripsters.  Recently on my Viner frame, moved the Gripsters from my Raleigh, and put the older Kings back on it.  I missed them, so sold the Grip Kings to David, moved the VPs back home to the Raleigh and found the best price I could on the Atlas pedals.

Though it doesn't show exactly in my low-light photo, the color matches the red anodize splashed around the bike.

yes, they're crazy expensive pedals, but I found them for $55 below retail including shipping - listed on ebay by a CO bike shop.

What's great too is there are so very many awesome pedals to choose from these days.  A cool feature of many of the higher end ones is the pins that are adjustable in height from from the reverse side.  (Like the Atlas pedals Ron showed) . And you get sharp flat, sharp pointed , plain flat or rounded ones.  I've not seen any pedal so far wider than 120mm , plus they're getting really thin, 12mm .  That's what I like about the Harrier is that the platform is completely flat , I think the humps on some I may find not suitable, I have size 14/15 feet and no matter how you swing it large shoes are inherently wide , even though I wear medium width shoes . So the larger the platform ((115mm +)  the better for me !

here's the actual color of the Atlas in red

borrowed from this review.  http://www.sicklines.com/2014/01/07/spotlight-2014-race-face-atlas-pedals/raceface-atlas-pedal-top-2/

A couple of others I was looking at closely (and found better prices) were Azonic Wicked, Stratline Amp, and Spank Spike, but when I found the Atlas for a better price, it was a no-brainer - exactly the size pedal i wanted.

hey Jim, that was what worked for me - they also come in black and green.

The Point 1 Podium and Podium 2 only come in silver, and they look like killer pedals...

I found the Atlas for $125, shipping included - I'm sure the VP Harriers (silver) are less.  Rivendell's VP price is the best on the net.  I wanted the red, and really wanted the size of the Atlas.
