A big surprise for my wife.  After the wows subsided the first thing she said was, "Can I still keep the Sequoia?"  Apparently it's a good thing I didn't sell it!

I'd put her together but right now I am pulling apart our hot air heating system and preparing to install radiant floor heat, which is not a job to linger over in a Vermont January.

my buddy used to have a vintage pier-and-beam house in the TX hill country, and the best thing about it was the floor heater vents on a cold winter morning.

Radiant floor heat sounds awesome.
I don't have it. I start having sneezing fits when my bare feet walk over our chilly porcelain kitchen tile. Floor heat would probably solve that.

Replacing the forced air heating isn't something I'd think of doing in the winter...unless the old one is kaput! Also wouldn't some form of heat pump be a good way to go in your region?

Congrats on the Betty. The wife will probably gravitate to the Betty and the Sequoia will be back on the list. I love receiving a new bike and then assembling it, enjoy the build and then the wife's grin while she rides it.

Right,
I didn't choose it.  It choose me.  The furnace is or was on life support. Fortunately our wood stove is capable of heating the whole house.  Heat pumps make sense as auxiliary, especially where you run both heat and air conditioning, which I don't.  However I'm looking at preheating with a solar system.

I enjoyed putting the bike together last night.  Rack and fenders to complete the job

I'm not concerned about the Sequoia.  My grandson will grow into it eventually.

Michael,

That's a great idea to have the sequoia pass down to another generation. My next home project will be to fully insulate our walls...back in the fifties they figured California homes didn't need insulation lathe & plaster. So I'll do the spray in variety. The list is long but it's fun too.

Sorry to be so slow.  But I am just a few hours into having central heat and in a celebratory mood.

Here's Betty. Since it was the demo. pretty much a stock build, but with fatty bumpkins and a kickstand.  I added longboards and the rear rack from her Sequoia.  And here's Betty with Patty.
