Thanks to a suggestion by Peter M., I got some of these guidonnet levers to make all kinds of space on my albatross bars. Only problem is there's no reach adjustment on the levers. With this problem percolating in the back of my mind, I was wandering Home Depot shopping for some electric supplies when I had an idea! (see bad joke photo with the light socket, I could make a worse joke and ask what bulb I should use if I want to power this with a dynamo, I'll spare you)
So the lamp piece does the trick with a little filing of the cable stay, but I was wondering if there was something, some aftermarket part out there that solves this problem. If not, here it is, though I should've slotted the threaded sleeve to make for easy cable removal...

Kai, I had the other VO levers and used something like this for adjustment, they just sit in the hole and are held with tension in the system.

but was never adventurous enough to attempt what you want, haha. Good luck!

Those are great for adjusting the tension, I'm fortunate to have one built into the tektro cable hanger. Still would need a reach adjustment doohicky similar to the one I "fabricated", those guidonnet levers naturally sit a mile off of the bar in this application. I was thinking I of brazing in a nut to accept the tensioner but I was afraid to try since the lever parts are all press/rivit fit, leaving the mystery of what's providing smooth lever action a mystery. Stick heat to it and whatever it is would probably melt.
