1. Any drawbacks/benefits to either way?
Thinking M18 on Bleriot.

2. Does either way interfere with fork blade flexiness?

on my old Raleigh, I started with P clamps and later bought the long struts when Spenser got them back in stock.  I like the result.

I really load up my Acorn rando bag and it acts "invisible" (carried a small watermelon in it one day)

Ron,
Does the long strut setup feel more secure than the p-clamped setup? I'm contemplating the long strut scenario for a current build.

Looks great.  What size and wheel size is your Raleigh?

aesthetic consideration - using the dropout eyelets means you aren't adding p-clamps to your frame. When Bleriot got crunched, and ended up with a new fork, Riv didn't have any more Bleriot forks, but they did have a Saluki fork, which had mid-fork eyelets as well as dropout eyelets. No longer needing p-clamps! I've kind of made a promise to my bikes to avoid zip ties, electrical tape (except for finishing handlebar tape), and p-clamps.

Aesthetic AND maintenance - dirt collects around the p-clamps, PITA to clean.
