Anyone out there try these?  Schwalbe claims: Trekking Cruiser. Quiet on pavement, yet off-road its diamond textured side lugs still afford plenty of grip.

They have Kevlar Guard and a  26 x 2.0 weighs 910 g. Seems like a good all round tire with decent flat protection and fair rolling capabilities, they have so many it's hard to make a decision. Help!

I'm partial to the HS420s, but you know me...

I have the HS420s on my AHH. I like em.

A Schwalbe tire for under $30?  Whoddu thunk?  With the Marathon Mondial at pennies shy of $90, seems like worth a try.  They look aggressive enough for off-road so even if they don't work out as an all rounder, you can use them on Mendenhall & any of David's rides :-).  One thing about Schwalbe is they have so many choices that one of them is bound to work.

Almost a kilo in weight for a 26" tire... sounds like punishment for
not putting your toys away.

I don't know what use you're looking for so keep that in mind... I
don't like heavy-duty tires, but that's because my kind of riding
doesn't need them. If you need 'em, you need 'em! :-)
That said, just going through Schwalbe's site, here are 26"X50mm tires
that are all around 30% lighter in the 6-700g range.

Here are some non-Schwalbe, I just looked @ Jenson for convenience of
searching. I've used the Conti T&C before, and they're nice tires.
Same with the Kenda Slant Six, which is my favorite tire if you want
more off-road capability. SB8 are nice in the dirt as well.

Keep in mind I'd rather repair a flat now and then than carry heavy
tires around and I don't need reliability or durability for commuting
or camping. The above are my fair-weather cycling recommendations :-)

David,

Thanks for your recommendations, I'll spend some time looking over all of them, probably tomorrow.

Best,

The current rear tire on my Atlantis is a 700 x 45 Marathon Touring Plus, which weighs in at 1,070 grams of solid German (actually Indonesian) rubber & steel.  I've got my order in at Ocean Air for a pair of the new Soma C-line 700 x 38s & look forward to their arrival.  Meanwhile, I'll take my punishment for managing to destroy a nearly new Supreme.
