I am looking for a set of Soba Handlebars.  I am not sure what actual sizes they came in but I am looking for 42 or 44.  Anyone?

Not sure which bar is the Soba.  Is that the same as Mark's bar on the riv sight?  In any case I have a nearly new 42 cm Marks Bar and another Nitto bar (Model 356) which has a bend about half way between marks & Noodles in 44cm.  Would be happy to sell either.

I have an extra set of 46 Sobas. I might be able to part with them, but they are quite wide. Let me know if you want to talk about them

FYI @ Michael:   the Soba is a 'light' version of the Noodle;  same curves, didn't come in a 48.

I had 48 Noodles on my Ram, swapped it down to the 46 Soba.  The 48 Noodles are now going onto the cantiRom...

@William:  I don't need 'em, but I'd almost be tempted to get them to squirrel away for any future needs.....

Sobas were a different version of the Noodles. I believe they were lighter and didn't have the engraved step up that the Noodles have.

Still looking for these.  I have a brand spakin new set of 44 Noodles I could trade if anyone is interested in that instead of a straight purchase.

I read a reference that Sobas only came in 46cm.  http://www.flickr.com/photos/rperks1/4858141165/  This photo shows they're wider in the drops.

not true, Soba's came in 42,44, and 46cm wide.   I have a pair of 46's but all the others  I've found were smaller sizes.

fair enough, I was going by what I read - they're also not the same bend as the noodle if the photo is right

That bar on top isn't the Soba Nitto 177-LT. It looks like a 176 on
top and a 177 (noodle) on the bottom in that photo. Perhaps they made
the Soba (lightweight handlebar) in more than one model.

I hope this clears up the confusion:

The picture in the flickr post shows a comparison between B177 Nitto Noodle Bars "Soba" version and the RM 013 Nitto Dirt Drop Bar.

The bar on the top of the pic is the Dirt Drop with the clamp sleve, flat bar and wide flare. - size 48 (of 46, 48, and 51 options)

The bar on the bottom is the Soba with a backward bend to the bars, clamp bulge,  and less flare. - size 46 (of 41,42,44,46, and maybe 48 options)

The picture is mislabeled - or deceptively labeled.  In English we read from top to bottom, left to right. The bar on the top should intuitively be the first one listed in the caption, it isn't.  I think the Soba version of Nitto bars has a different production number than B177 but I could not find and answer to that.

Hang in there!

I had 48 Noodles on my Ram, w/ a DuraAce stem that was a 120mm, which had me a bit stretched out, and dint get quite as high as I liked; not bad, but.... But it was the stem's creaking that motivated me to do something; I switched to a 110 Tallux stem, but while at it, I swapped down to a 46 Soba... Really like the bar.... It is also a 177 bar, same curves as the Noodle, but doesn't have the center sleeve, nor available in 48.

I don't find the 46 too wide; I didn't find the 48 too wide, either, but for this bike, I realized the 46 was plenty wide... I moved the 48 over to the canti-Rom...

But, if your heart is set on a 42 or 44, just keep looking.... I've been known to peruse stacks of bike photos, searching for similar terms, in hopes of finding some oddball item; and then when I do, firing off emails to the person, inquiring about it, where they got it, if there were others, if they'd let it go.... Have gotten several items that way....

PS: Abby still loves the purple water-bottle cage you sent her.....

That fantastic Leslie! I had forgotten about the purple bottle cage. I am so glad it's still being enjoyed!

I think I would be open to a 46 if someone had one for sale. Maybe you want to sell yours? :)

But then I'd need another set!  lol....

William up above had a set of 46's, are they gone already?

I am still "semi" looking for a pair of these. I am OK with using the Noodles I have if I can't find a set but would prefer the Soba.  Like I said I have a brand new set of noodles to trade plus some cash or will buy them straight up!!

Thought I would bump this baby up. I am still looking for this.  Slow and steady wins the race.

Does anyone have the scoop on why Nitto stopped making the Sobas? I love everything about my Nitto bars except having to untape and dribble oil into the clamp once a season to them from creaking.

Best,

I have one. Brand new. I think it's a 42. Make me an offer (cash, not trade).

I would still like a set of these.  I think I found a set and then sold them off without using them. I wish I had just kept them. I dont think I ever got the set from Jim but doubt they are still around almost two years later. :)

You're still looking 4 years later??

Haha.  Well i was looking for 2 years or so. I did get a set back in 2015 and they sat around for awhile because I never finished the build I was working on.  I ended up selling them like and idiot. So now I have a need again but I sold the stupid set that I had found.

Johnny you are definitely not an idiot for either behavior. Patiently searching and waiting or pass something on prematurely. This list is full of "like minded" souls. At least you only did it with bars. All who have done likewise with full bikes or f/f/hs feel free to hang your head in shame now.

Oh tell me about it, Ryan. I sold and immaculate pewter Saluki frame because it was a smidge too tall and I needed the cash. Bad idea!

I want a set of these again.  I actually don't even care about the width.  For the record I was correct earlier that I had found a set and then sold them. I do not smart stuff a lot. :)

Anyone have one of these they would like to sell?
