Full disclosure: I paid for my saddles, but Debra sent me the initial "try before you buy" without cost in exchange for whatever review I would eventually give. Here is that review.

Hello all,

A while back I was looking for a new, narrower saddle for my Hunqapillar. I wanted to venture beyond Brooks for a variety of reasons, but was highly daunted by the wall of saddle options. Really? I either had to buy used till I found what I wanted, or pay full price and end up with a saddle collection I didn’t really want and try and sell them off. That all seemed really daunting.

Then I talk with Debra at Rivet. http://rivetcycleworks.com With a one year guarantee and full return option, I could try any or all of the Rivet saddles and be risk free till I had a happy bum. Even better, Debra had an Independence model available for “Try before you buy” — a great deal whereby you pay $25 for shipping and the privilege of getting a slightly used saddle (mine looked untouched) to try. If I liked it, I could get a new one or keep this one and buy it at a discount. Note: Debra’s supply of “try” saddles is limited to the ones returned, so tends to be fairly limited.

I ended up going with the narrower Diablo saddle for both my bikes. But I have to say, the daunting brick wall of saddles I saw vanished and Rivet’s guarantee and "try before you buy" jumped them to the front of the line as a no-brainer place to start (and end) my saddle quest.

To the saddles themselves, they are wondrously comfortable out the box and get better from there. Long days in the saddle? No problem. Narrower to get my weight back on steep, technical descents? No problem. What a great saddle buying experience.

I meant to include this photo album. The black saddle is the Independence, the white is the Diablo:

thanks for the review - I have a major application an Independence, and it's in my want queue.  I didn't read about your Quickbeam before, my mystake.  Gorgeous bike, is that an IGH?

Well, Ron, the used Independence is heading back to Rivet Cycle Works, so you might get a deal on it if it's still around and you are fine with a slightly used one.

On the QB it's a Phil hub. I run 40/16 as my high, 32/19 as my low. Eventually will have a 22t for a bailout gear.

With abandon,
Patrick

As a disclosure, I am a friend of Deb Banks, the owner of Rivet, but I have three Rivet saddles and am a huge fan of all of them.  I have ridden 600ks with two of them with minimal butt problems.  This year's 600k was done with only two rides over 2 hours in length this year (a 300k and a 400k), so it's not as if my butt is acclimated to long riding!

The wider Pearl saddle that I have is much more comfortable than the Brook Swift I had, which is too narrow for the more upright brevet riding that I have been doing.

Have fun!
Toshi
