So I've been working in CT now for a year and a half. I'm in the New Haven area and except for one charity ride this fall all of my riding has been solo. Even though I've ridden quite a lot I've put on weight and am in the process of taking it off. That's going well but I've decided some goals will help me stay focused so I'm planning on some brevets on Long Island. I'm going for a 200k and 300k in May. Maybe I'll go for more after that. Anyway, I'd really like to join some other Riv owners this spring. It doesn't have to be "training" rides or even long distance but that would be fine too. Training, rambles, trails...any and all would be great. I have a Homer and a Hunqapillar with me so...how about it? If there's no one close any route suggestions would be welcomed. Peace!

Tim

We have a few Riv’s in our club, the NBW which has Sunday rides all year long in RI, Eastern CT, and SE Mass.

I ride a QB fixed, and my wife a Saluki (although to be honest she is a warm weather rider). There are a few Ram’s too

Regards
Ted

Some good route & ride information can be found at http://bikenewengland.com/connecticut_rides.html

AMC has many rides throughout the state (http://www.outdoors.org/)

It's rumored that spring may someday come to Connecticut so keep dreaming.

Not really much to add here, since it's been years that I've lived in the Constitution State (almost 14, to be exact). But Tim, if you are in the "New Haven area", you should check out the Devil's Gear Bike Shop. And there is the Elm City Cycling. http://elmcitycycling.org/

And as someone who grew up and spent 2/3s of my life in the New Haven area, I'm curious to exactly what town you live in!

Once a Nutmegger, always a Nutmegger,

Thanks for the input guys. Ted, I'll try to get up to RI for some of those Sunday rides. They sound great. And Shawn, I'm is KC native in Milford now. I tell Toto quite often that "we're not in Kansas anymore." It's much different here but it has been a wonderful experience!

Ah, Milford. I spent many a youthful summer day at Silver Sands. (And at Connecticut Post too, but that doesn't sound as nice.) I imagine there's some decent riding when you get north of there, through Orange and into Woodbridge and Bethany. Or maybe just one summer day ride out to Charles Island (of course, when it's low tide.)

No one actually looks at email signatures anymore, but here goes nothing:

There is potential for an E. Coast tour, if all goes accordingly. My plan is to visit the father in CT (Enfield) this summer
ship the bike out there, travel to NYC to see my brother (train), and continue down the coast (bike) to where my family lives in South FL. This is more of a dream than a reality, but hey, could happen.

Here's a guy who knows where to ride in CT:
