I need to free up some space so I am looking to part with my XO-3.  Its a 57; I am 5'10.99" and it fits great.  I really like how it climbed when I lived on Bainbridge Island.  The bike is now in Chicago.  Right now it is a budget Rivish build set up with Soma Mustache bars with pro corky grips mounted to an origin 8 quill stem, Kenda Qucik V 700x38 skinwalls, VO friction shifters, Avid digit 5 v-brakes with avid brake levers.  All original drive trian with almost no miles when I bought it in 2011.  Maybe a couple 1000 since then.  Sorry no fancy pedals or sadde but I could set up something up for a test ride.  It's a great entry into Rivish ownership, which it was for me.  I FINALLY got a SH this summer and have my Surly CC too so I am left feeling guuilty 'cause this bike should be ridden.  I want it to go to a good home where it will be appreciated for what it is.  If you're interested make an offer; if you're here and reading this you should be able to come up with a reasonable offer.  I do have the original arc bar and stem with ritchey grip that I can include/swap out depending on the sale price.  Pics are on my phone so if you respond with a # I can text them.  I will get pics up here soon.

Fair winds,

Captain Conway

Buyers please be aware that this is the TIGed lowest-end model that became the XO-5 in 93/94. It's a 700c-wheeled bike which resembled the rash of hybrids on the market at that time. It was my first Bridgestone and a good one, but it bears little resemblance to the later lugged XO-3s, or any other XO with 26-inch wheels. Just so's you know.

joe is correct. it's still probably worth $100 to $150 if it is in good shape. a beater with some class.

Hey, no bashing the 1992 XO-3! Yes, yes, it was the low end of the 92 XOs, TIG welded (gasp!) and with 700C wheels (double gasp!) Yes, yes, it will never be as cool as the 26" wheeled XOs. As for "resembling the rash of hybrids", it clearly stated in the 92 catalog that it was "Better than your average hybrid" and we all know that Grant can't/don't lie. Yes, yes, will never command the great prices of an XO-1 or even 2, but I paid $180 for my used one and it's been worth every penny. I just rode the heck out of mine today. And it cleans up pretty nice.

All in love,
Shawn

Now now, Shawn :)  $180 is a fair price, and that's a nice bike. The '94 TIGed 700c XO-4 is pretty sweet, too, and quite rare. I've never seen one other than new-at-the-dealer back in the day.

When folks are asking $200 on CL for rusty "all original" (dry rotted tires, rusty cables, etc) Schwinn Varsities then $180 for a nice  BStone, low end or not, is a deal.

LOL, that's true Ryan that some of those CL listings are truly absurd, particularly in the Bay Area.

True, and my admonition that the '92 XO-3 is "lowest-end" is not the same as "low-end". Bridgestone didn't do cheap, lousy bikes. Some were just less expensive, a bit heavier, and lugless. My '93 XO-5 (same bike, new number) was a great city bike which I also took to the singletrack (with the stock smooth tires) at China Camp in Marin County. It was a 29er before 29er was cool!

Joe Bernard and the 1992 XO-3 might be "not cool", but they are also "not dumb"

Tony, thanks! Unfortunately my bike herd is in "thinning" mode especially where it comes to overlap/redundancy, so I don't need another XO-3 right now. (XO 1 or 2, maybe for the right price!)

And after all this banter, it would be nice if Captain Conway shows some photos of his bike and how much he'd think is a reasonable offer for the XO-3.

Not dumb,
Shawn
