It's for my XO-3... I've got up to 2" big apples before but it was tight.

I'm looking for a RnR/Cazadero type tire for an additional trail option but not giving up entirely on bike paths/pavement. Seems like most of the interesting 26ers are 2.1"+ these days.

I could always go semi slick with the big apples, kojaks or compass type tires as a fall back but having a light knobby tired bike would add some differentiation into the stable... ;)

I love Thunder Burts for mixed surface riding. The 27.5X2.1B tires only measure 50mm, don't know if that would be too big...

I'm actually stuck with 26" rims on the XO... Anyone know if the 26x2.1 TB's run smaller?  That would be perfect.

I presumed the 26" ones for you, just throwing out there that the B ones measure in @ 50mm. So don't know if a 26" version would fit @ 50mm :-)

I ran a 1.9 front and a 2.1 rear with Planet Bike fenders on my XO-3 which is now under new ownership. I'd sure love to get another one some day. ;-)

WTB All Terrain 26x1.95
Fairly quick on pavement, grippy off road, and cheap!

I'm not sure they'd fit at 2.2, but the Maxxis Holy Roller has been fantastic on the Atlantis for on/off road. It does have a round profile though without knobs sticking off the sides so it may squeak by.

However, for a great all round tire that is super civil on the pavement I can't say enough about the Continental Town & Country. Cheap and easy to find.

Also, if you want a bit more knob and lighter weight, the Kenda Klimax Lite K is a folder with small aggressive knobs at 26x1.9 and I know they'll fit an X0-3.

Ritchey makes a 26" only tire called the Speedmax Beta. It's listed as a 2" tire but measures more like 48 mm wide. Pretty fast on pavement and holds it own off-road.
... ran them on my hopped up 87 Stumpy until I sold it.  https://www.flickr.com/photos/37347002@N05/7089294979/in/album-72157629565315711/

Some awesome suggestions guys thank you!! I had missed the whole slew of narrower Kenda 26ers... I ran an ~2" 700c small block eight on my Atlantis briefly and liked it.

To be honest the Ritchey Speedmax look like they might be perfect for the price point. I also kind of like the fact that Ritchey Tom Slick's were the original equipment for the XO3 as well.

The list rarely fails, thanks again!!

(Pictures once I actually order-receive-mount-ride then... ;)
