Hello Rivsters-

I'm heading up to Vancouver for the weekend to catch the tail-end of Velopalooza. http://velopalooza.ca/
And because I'm me, I decided to hold a "Country Bike in the City Ramble" when I'm there! Hope to see some of you Lower Mainland folks there.

Here are the pertinent details:
Rough Stuff "Country Bike in the City" Ramble
Sunday, August 11, 11:00am - 4:00pm. Meet at 11am, depart at 11:30am.
Meet At: Volunteer Park, 2855 Point Grey Road (Near the intersection of W 1st Ave and Macdonald St.)

A 20 to 30 km ramble exploring the "country" aspects in the city while riding "Country" bikes. Expect a good deal of gravel/dirt action, climbs (you can walk it if you have to), and places you may not have thought to exist. We'll have food/picnic breaks along the way. Ride a bike geared towards comfort, not speed, and one that can handle off-road elements. Moderate pace, no one left behind. Lycra and carbon, no, shellac and seersucker, yes. Ride not a loop.

yours,
Shawn

Sadly, my current bike can't handle off road riding, or I'd join you. I'll pass it along to some folks I know.

Just to clarify: The "off-road" riding on this ride isn't what one might consider "mountain biking", but rather unpaved roads and paths.

I've ridden with Shawn on his "Country Bike in the City" rides in Portland. Always a good time. Never technical. Not sure what his Vancouver route is like, but he's a good ride leader and route scouter. The raciest of bikes may require walking for a short stretch at some point, but I wouldn't let that deter you from attending. Plus Shawn's a reader and often has interesting tid bits to share about this and that along the route.

Readers are leaders.

Also, walking a your bike ain't no bad thing, either.

I sold my Norco to help finance the Betty Foy, so I'm bikeless at the moment. I hope y'all will take lots of photos and maybe include a breakdown of the route for future rides?
