Hi Everyone,

I am Saheb Preet Singh, a 3rd year B.Tech IT student from University School of Information Technology (USIT), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), New Delhi, India. I am interested in a raxa project " Location Based Disease Treatment " for GSOC 2014.

About Me:
I have already worked upon and very familiar with technology like html5, java script, php (Developed some firefox os apps ) and indexed DB. I am quite well in c++ and java also and participate in online algorithm coding competition. I did a two month internship at Futor Services Pvt. Ltd. (  a java based web application).

I have solved some small bugs in opensource.

I am looking forward to contribute in raxa and interested in above mentioned project.

So far, I have built Hello world app using Sencha, installed openmrs, added rest module over it and fetched location data and provider data through OPENMRS REST API and will be plotting it to map soon.

It would be great if someone can guide me on how to work further on it.

Hi Saheb,
Great to hear of your interest. As a next step, I would start thinking of ways we can expand this project -- getting data from other sources? Allowing the user to interact with the map in easier ways?

Also, do send me a link to your demo so I can check if you are on the right track (github pages are great for this).

Hi John,

Thanks for your reply.

My raxa demo is making an ajax request on the server to retrieve locations from openmrs, so it would not be possible to show the app hosted on github pages. I have uploaded the app here https://github.com/SAHEBHPREET/raxademo and screenshots here: http://snag.gy/qdqnr.jpg , http://snag.gy/S8ZmU.jpg.

I am trying to host the app and openmrs to server in order to show you.

Note that this is just a demo and it has nothing to do with the final design of the application.  I have designed the demo in adhoc approach without caring about the user interface.

Hi,

Here is the demo of the getting started written in the gsoc page of raxa :-

It would be great if somebody can pulll me on the right track for the application.

Here are some of my suggestions for the app:-

Both doctors and patients can register on the app. The app can record the basic information about both of them.

==>User can select their current location using
             =>autodetect option (using gps).
             =>search bar with help of google maps.

==>Search treatment locations with variable radius of search area based on a locality, on disease and insurance(optional).
            =>After searching information the results would also be shown on the map where a user can                    get some basic information for each location in the popup for comparing two or more                            locations on the basis of some information(rating, distance from current location etc.).
                 User can select the location from map as well as list view to get more details.

==>Sorting locations on the basis of disease, rating, location, expense.

==>Each treatment location can have detailed information about
               =>description and quality of treatment.
               =>review and rating by other patients.
               =>details about fees charged for normal checkups.
                =>availability of various service, includes availability of doctors and treatment for a
                    particular disease, waiting information for particular treatment.
                =>treatment facilities and equipments.
                =>contact information. Option for making a call directly in case of emergency.

==>When a particular treatment location is selected user can get directions to reach the location.

==>Best possible suggestion for location based on emergency ( for critical diseases), distance, rating, fees.

==>The app can be translated into local languages.

It would be good if these suggestions can help in making the app a better utility.

Hi Saheb, these are all great ideas. I especially like the translation idea. We will get back to you with feedback over the next few days. In the meantime, continue working on your application and improving your demo.
