Newbe setting up Radiobery

I have some general questions on setting HW up.

I have RP5 and RP4, Radioberry Hat, and Preamp Hat, 10" Monitor

Goal for now is just getting RX to work with PiHPSDR running on Raspberry Pi.

As I understand the RP5 is not a good choice unless you have juice board and run PiHPSDR on a computer. 

All should work fine if I use RP4 instead of RP5 , is this correct?

Yes.  Mine is running on a Rpi 4 with no issues.  Self contained portable.  10w.

The radioberry does support the rpi-4 as well the rpi-5.

For the rpi-4 there is a github release present.

For the rpi-5 you have the possibity to buy an image at https://pa3gsb.gumroad.com/l/radioberry this image supports CL016 and CL025.

I followed this procedure.

All seemed to load and I have an icon on desktop. 

Put it won't start?

Did you install the Radioberry files first?

I use this version of PiHPSDR.  The author just released a new version with more features.  I follow the install instructions at the end of the pdf manual.  Has worked every time for me.  Page 252.

I guess his version disabling GPIO did the trick . 

I tried it on RPi4 I noticed audio was weak in headphone jack, normal?

I will try later on RBPi 5 and see if HDMI audio is working my display has speakers so hope it works.

I need to tweak for larger screen I have 10" I believe that is simple config setting, do that after all is working.

Are you using the built in audio or a USB soundcard?  I would recommend a sound card so you have a mic input as well.  Make sure your system audio is up on the desktop.  If it is, you can try "alsamixer" from terminal window and see if you can turn it up more there.  My portable unit has a 7" touch screen and works great. Better for these old eyes than the smaller ones.  Not sure if you even thought about this but you can use that setup as just a radio and amp and as long as it's on your network. You can use it with Tetis HL2 or SDR Console etc.  Just do not load piHPSDR software on the unit itself.  The radioberry drivers make it available on your network.  Just like a HL2.  Use hardwire.  Wifi will work but does have dropouts sometimes.

I am using audio on RPi, the 1/8" jack. Mine has 10" screen better for 78yo eyes Hi.

I will play with audio. I have built many SDR's in past including Pandora HPSDR and original Hermes so I know about rig control from PC.

My aim is for stand alone system.

Couple of observations, RX is 275Hz high have to use RIT which is bummer. Seems I saw recent posts about this and I need to look thru them.

Output from pre-amp stays at -72dB no matter where TX drive is set. 

I have not loaded on RPi5 as yet. 

Want to get the bugs out on this one first.

That is the same problem I have with the new Aursinc boards.  I have two that are doing the same thing.  Off frequency.  My original from them back in 2023 isn't that way.  Not sure what they did but it isn't good.  Do not know of anyone else making them.

No really new to radioberry stuff. I did some adjusting in I believe radio menu to get it back on track. I can send a screen shot later.

Which audio hat do you use that has mic input? seems a lot don't have that and I don't want to us usb mic.

A USB sound card.  Has regular 1/8" jack female to plug into. You don't need a USB mic.
